CELEBRATING 70 YEARS 🎥 The 1960s

We’re excited to share the next video in our special decade by decade series as we celebrate our 70th anniversary.

The 1960s were a time of growth, transformation and collaboration at Mount Alvernia. As enrolments continued to rise, a significant milestone was reached with the opening of the Clare Building in 1967.

This decade also marked the introduction of co educational classes with our brother school, Padua College – a valued partnership that continues to thrive to this day.

Were you at Mt A in the 1960s? Share your memories below.

HUMANITIES WEEK 📚 Recently, Mount Alvernia College celebrated the powerful role Humanities plays in shaping curious minds and compassionate leaders.

It was especially meaningful to welcome back 2023 alumna Amisha, who shared her journey beyond Mt A and inspired our students with insights into future study and career pathways in Humanities.

There’s nothing quite like seeing our alumnae return to where it all began. Thank you, Amisha, for giving back and staying connected to our Mt A community. It was so lovely to have you back at Mt A!

SPOTLIGHT ON ARTS & TECHNOLOGIES 🖌 Last week we celebrated the power of our Arts and Technology subjects with a 'Breakfast of Champions'.

A wonderful group of alumnae and guest presenters shared their experiences with our students, highlighting the benefits, enjoyment, and wide range of career pathways available beyond school.

It was fantastic to welcome back Emily Parker (class of 2008), who shared her journey from Mount Alvernia College to the Australian Girls Choir, to opening her own gallery Parker Contemporary in South Bank's cultural precinct, championing print and papermaking.

2025 graduates Rachel and Camille spoke about how arts & technology subjects influenced their pathways to university into the areas of Urban & Regional Planning, Climate Science, Engineering, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

CAPTAINS’ TABLE SOIREE | On Friday night we were delighted to welcome back past college Captains and Vice-Captains to our inaugural Captains’ Table Soiree event.

This event was created to spark a connection with captains from all decades, in our year of 70th anniversary celebrations.

It was wonderful to welcome attendees spanning Mt A’s history, including many returning for the first time in years and amazed by the college’s transformation. Captains represented graduating classes from 1965 to 2025, with many laughs and conversations shared across generations.

We are committed to growing our Alumnae engagement and would love to see more of our past students at our upcoming events.

Stay tuned for news about our upcoming 70th Anniversary Garden Party!
