70 YEARS 🎥 The 1990s

As we continue celebrating 70 years of Mount Alvernia College, we look back on the 1990s, a decade of bold change, growth and opportunity that many of our alumnae will remember fondly.

A significant milestone came with the appointment of our first lay Principal, Dr Lee Anne Perry AM, whose future-focused leadership guided the College while staying true to our Franciscan values and traditions.

The decade also saw the transformation of our campus, with the opening of the Elizabeth Hayes Learning Centre in 1996 and the San Damiano Centre, spaces that became central to learning, connection and community life for generations of students.

As the millennium approached, Vicki Ward stepped into the role of Principal, leading the College into a new chapter while continuing to build on the strong foundations established throughout the decade.

For many alumnae, the 1990s were years of treasured friendships, memorable milestones and the shared experiences that helped shape lifelong connections to Mount Alvernia College.

ALUMNAE INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION ❤ There's something special about coming back to where your journey began.

Last week, we welcomed seven graduates from 2025 back to Mount Alvernia College to share their experiences with our current Year 12 students. Having recently navigated the transition from school to life beyond the College gates, they offered honest reflections on resilience, embracing opportunities, building connections, and taking ownership of their future.

We are incredibly grateful to these young women for returning to give back to the community that helped shape them. By sharing their experiences and words of encouragement, they are helping the next generation of Mt A women step confidently into their own future.

The Mt A story doesn't end at graduation. It continues through the connections, mentorship and support shared between generations of our alumnae community. ✨

Thank you to our valued alumnae who joined us last weekend, alongside parents, current and past staff, invited guests and friends, in the beautiful surrounds of La Foresta for our 70 Year Garden Party, marking a significant milestone in Mount Alvernia College's history. 🌿

With live music, entertainment, delicious food and plenty of opportunities to reconnect, the evening was a fitting celebration of 70 years of Franciscan education for girls.

Most importantly, it was a chance to reflect on the people, stories and shared experiences that have shaped our College community across seven decades. 🥰

Thank you again to all of our alumnae who joined us and helped make this special celebration so memorable, especially those who attended their milestone reunion.

Here's to honouring our past, celebrating our present and embracing our future together. 🫶

70 YEARS | THE 1980s ✨ As we celebrate 70 years of Mount Alvernia College, we’re proud to share the next chapter in our journey - the 1980s.

A decade of bold growth, fresh vision and vibrant energy, the 80s saw the opening of the Francis Wing, bringing classrooms, music, home economics and art together in one inspiring space. With new spaces came new possibilities.

Defined by colour, creativity and a strong sense of community, the 80s helped shape the spirit of Mt A we know and love today.

Take a step back in time and relive the decade that set the foundation for so much of what followed. ❤

70 YEARS 🎥 The 1970s

As we proudly celebrate our 70th year, we are thrilled to share the next in a series of videos that showcase the highlights from each decade of Mount Alvernia’s journey.

Stepping back into the vibrant 1970s, this era was a time of colour, confidence, and creativity with the opening of our very first library, and the production of our inaugural musical in 1976, setting the stage for future artistic achievements and traditions. 🎭

Sporting endeavours also played a significant role during this decade, building both school spirit and camaraderie. 🏐

CELEBRATING 70 YEARS 🎥 The 1960s

We’re excited to share the next video in our special decade by decade series as we celebrate our 70th anniversary.

The 1960s were a time of growth, transformation and collaboration at Mount Alvernia. As enrolments continued to rise, a significant milestone was reached with the opening of the Clare Building in 1967.

This decade also marked the introduction of co educational classes with our brother school, Padua College – a valued partnership that continues to thrive to this day.
