Our cows have got some new jewellery! 96 of our cows were fitted with virtual fencing neckbands yesterday, which will emit a noise when they approach the virtual fence and then an electrical pulse if they continue towards the fence. These cows will remain virtually fenced for the next few months to understand whether the virtual fence still works when the mother is virtually fenced and her calf is not, and whether there are behaviour or welfare implications of collaring the mother are.

Discover how CDU is preparing future doctors to support communities across the Northern Territory and beyond.

Today, Charles Darwin University stands with LGBTQIA+SB students, staff and communities as we celebrate Wear It Purple Day. 💜

This year’s theme, Colours of Courage, reminds us that courage can take many forms — from living authentically and speaking up, to asking for support, standing beside someone and creating spaces where everyone feels safe, seen and supported.

We believe diversity makes our university community stronger. Everyone should feel they belong, have the opportunity to be themselves and know they are valued for who they are. ⭐️

At CDU, our Safer Communities Team plays an important role in building this understanding across our university community. Through ongoing education, conversations, resources and shared learnings, the team helps students and staff better understand what respect looks like in practice, how we can support one another, and how we can contribute to safer and more inclusive spaces for everyone.

This Wear It Purple Day, let’s keep learning, keep listening and have the courage to create a community where everyone can belong. 🏳️‍🌈
