We are well into the term now, and all of our weekly extra-curricular activities are running smoothly. Students are enjoying a variety of before and after-school activities, including tennis, gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, and volleyball.

We love seeing so many young people choosing to be active, move their bodies, and make healthy choices while having fun with friends.

If your child would like to participate, keep an eye on the Parent Orbit notices at the start of each term for registration details. 😊

Last Friday, a delegation from the National University of Education, Taiwan (R.O.C.), visited Hills and the Beaudesert Golf Club as part of a Taiwanese government initiative: the Sports Exchange with New Southbound Countries.

This program is commissioned by the Ministry of Sports and implemented by National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan.

We welcomed Professor Chia-Chang Chang, Associate Professor Chin-Lin Tai, and Project Assistant and Delegation Secretary Hsin-Yu-Tung to our school. They were impressed by our facilities, particularly the HPE Centre and beach volleyball courts.
The visitors were also impressed by the golf program, which has had strong links to Taiwan for many years.

We hope this connection strengthens our ties with Taiwan, and allows us to welcome new golfers and beach volleyballers to Hills.

We are thrilled to announce that Year 2 student Triana has won the Independent Education Union (IEU) Award of Excellence in Art Design in the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 category.

Triana's beautiful painting, inspired by this year's theme 'Reflections', stood out among an impressive field of entries from across Queensland. More than 50 independent schools participated in the Art Awards for Excellence this year, with many schools submitting multiple works. In the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 category alone, there were 42 entries.

This outstanding achievement is a testament to Triana's creativity, imagination and artistic talent. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and delighted to see her work recognised at a state level.

International Ties are Strengthened
Last week, we hosted visitors from our sister school, Seibudai Chiba in Chiba, Japan.
Our friends from Chiba were very kind and polite, and happy to share their language and culture in class, and in homestay.

The students were led by their Principal, Mr Nakamura Junichi, as well as English teacher and Head of International, Ms Funamizu Etsuko, and Science teacher Mr Toyoshima Yugo.

During their stay, a new sister school agreement was signed between Mr Parks and Mr Nakamura.

We look forward to many more years of connection, culture and kindness between Seibudai Chiba and Hills International College.

Every journey includes important milestones, and our Certificate II in Hospitality students are taking exciting steps towards their future pathways.

During Wednesday afternoon training sessions with Jess from Work Skills , students in Years 10, 11 and 12 have been developing practical industry skills, recently mastering the art of professional table setting and the attention to detail that hospitality demands. Along the way, they are also gaining valuable RSA and Barista qualifications.

As they navigate this stage of their journey, students are building confidence, capability and real-world experience that can open doors to careers in cafés, hotels, restaurants, catering and beyond. We are proud to see them preparing for the opportunities that lie ahead. 🌟

🧸🌿 Prep Teddy Bears' Picnic 🌿🧸
What a magical day of adventure for our Prep students as they explored the enchanting Tamborine Mountain Botanical Gardens alongside their favourite teddy bears!

Surrounded by nature, our youngest learners enjoyed a special Teddy Bears' Picnic, sharing moments of friendship, discovery and fun. The excursion connected beautifully with their PYP Unit of Inquiry, "Important moments and people connect us", as students strengthened their sense of belonging and connection through shared experiences.

From exploring the mystical gardens to making memories with friends and their cuddly companions, it was a day filled with wonder, curiosity and happiness. πŸ’šπŸ»
