๐ŸซMinister's Decision๐Ÿซ

Following the recent community consultation, the Minister for Education has made the decision to close Gairdner Primary School as of 31 December 2025. The decision to close the school has been made due to the steady decline in student numbers and future enrolments are not anticipated.

We understand that rural schools like Gairdner Primary School have a rich history of educating generations of children from the families that make up the local community. A closure committee, including representation of the community, will manage the closure of the school. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this process, please don't hesitate to contact 9791 0300.

From a school point of view, we want to take this opportunity to thank our neighbouring schools, and the wider community for their continued support. A massive thank you to our amazing staff! They have shown flexibility, adaptability and most importantly an unwavering commitment to supporting schools and students in our region.

As 2025 comes to end, we want to wish everyone in our community a safe and enjoyable festive period๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…

๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ“How would the needs of students from the closing school be accommodated at other schools?

๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ“How would students from a closing school obtain transport to another school?
The Public Transport Authority of WA (School Bus Services) is responsible for transport assistance in rural areas. The Department of Education continues to maintain the property until the disposal process has been finalised.

๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ“What happens to P&C donated equipment?
The P&C should put a proposal for the equipment donated by it to the Director of Education. The P&C may nominate to forward donated property and memorabilia to host P&C associations, the local library, local historical society or museum, WACSSO and local government authority.

๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ“What happens to P&C monies?

Last Friday the 20th of June, the 2025 Lightning Carnival was held at Boxwood Hill Combined Sports Club. Six schools competed in Netball and Aussie Rules throughout the day, with teams made up of a mixture of students from these schools.

The weather held out and at the end of the day, there were a lot of tired students (and helpers), but more importantly a lot of smiles.

A big thank you to all the parents and supporters on the day, regardless of if you had an official job or not. Your support of the students was undeniable, and events like this are not possible without it.

To all those who made the 2025 Lightning Carnival possible, thank you and please enjoy some pictures from the day!
