A little look inside our Pre-Primary Ballet classes!

Our 5-6 year old dancers have been busy skipping, bouncing, balancing, listening to music and learning new steps — making friends and being creative along the way.

Behind all that fun, they're also developing the foundations of correct ballet technique, musicality, coordination, confidence and body awareness- skills that stay with our students wherever they go in life.

We love watching our youngest ballet students learn and grow while still getting to be exactly what they are — little kids who love to dance. 💙

A very special ballet milestone 🩰

Our Intermediate Foundation dancers recently had an exciting outing to be professionally fitted for their very first pair of pointe shoes!

Beginning pointe work is something young ballet dancers look forward to for years, but it also represents so much more than a shiny new pair of shoes. It comes after years and years of developing the strength, technique and maturity needed to take this next step safely and confidently.

We’re so proud of these girls and can’t wait to watch them begin this exciting new chapter in their ballet training. 💙

✨ What a week for our ADA dancers! ✨

This week saw our dancers take part in both our ADA Exams for Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, and AcroDance, and, for the very first time, the Brisbane ADA Awards Competition.

Guided by our dedicated Miss Bec, our students represented MDC with the grace, resilience, sportsmanship and quiet excellence that we are so proud to nurture within our studio.

A huge congratulations to every dancer who completed their exams. We know how much hard work goes into preparing for these assessments, and we are incredibly proud of the dedication, focus and perseverance you have shown throughout the year.

We would also like to congratulate the five dancers who proudly represented MDC at the Brisbane ADA Jazz and Tap Awards Competition. In a very strong field of competitors from across Queensland, they achieved some outstanding results:

🥇 1st Overall – Grade 2 Tap
🥇 1st Overall – Grade 5 Jazz
🥉 3rd Overall – Grade 2 Tap
🥉 3rd Overall – Grade 2 Jazz

As we head into Term 3, now is the perfect time to join one of our ADA classes! All Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and AcroDance classes will be beginning work from their new levels, making it an ideal time for new students to jump in and start their own dance journey.

Many parents assume that if their child hasn't started dancing by age 4 or 5, they've missed the boat. The truth is that 6–7 years old is still a wonderful age to begin learning ballet.

Our RAD Primary Ballet classes focuses on building strong foundations in ballet technique, musicality, coordination, and creativity, all within a supportive and encouraging environment.

With small class sizes and family-friendly class times (Friday evenings and Saturdays), students receive plenty of individual attention as they develop skills, make friends, and discover a love of dance.

Whether your child is brand new to ballet or looking to build on existing experience, we'd love to welcome them to our MDC family.

Our very first Wiggles World of Dance Mid-Year Concert was one to remember! 💛

From Dorothy's Dancing Roses, to Hot Potato, to Toot Toot Chugga Chugga Big Red Car, our audience was treated to a wonderful variety of performances that had everyone smiling. We are unbelievably proud of these dancers, many of whom stepped onto a stage in front of a huge audience for the very first time. The confidence, bravery, and excitement they showed throughout the day was so rewarding to see.

We were also thrilled to showcase some inspiring performances from our older soloists, giving our younger dancers a glimpse of what they can aspire to as they continue their dance journey.

A huge thank you also goes to our supportive families and audience members, whose encouragement helped make the day such a positive and memorable experience for every performer.

MDC would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to our Intermediate Ballet student Jorja who recently danced at the BTQ training program’s mid-year showcase!

The showcase was a phenomenal demonstration of passion, determination, professionalism, technique, and artistry, and Jorja danced with a maturity beyond her years.
