City of Ipswich Pipe Band

Today we competed at the Queensland Pipe Band Championships, held by Brisbane Boys' College Pipe Band. We were pleased to come away with 2nd overall, including a number of 1st places. Congratulations to the Australian Federal Police Pipe Band on the win, and thanks to them and Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band for making the trip up to Queensland. Well done to BBC and Pipe Bands Queensland for a very successful day in beautiful weather ☀️ fingers crossed it’s not raining at our contests for the 5th year in a row!!!

It's getting to the pointy end of another contest season. We will be playing this Sunday at the Qld State Pipe Band Championships & Tartan Spectacular Festival, then hosting our own Ipswich Pipe Band Championships on 27 June.

The last few weeks have also seen our Greater Ipswich College of Piping and Drumming program start 10 new snare drumming students, with new piping and tenor students entering the system. Over the next 6 months we will be out and about in the local community, as well as focusing on building fundamental skills within our new playing group.

If you are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a chance to get back into pipe bands, now is the perfect time to speak to us and get the ball rolling - with an opportunity to focus on rebuilding your skills. Please reach out regardless of what level you are at. We currently have a strong 4A band on the contest field, and are looking to add a 4B and possibly juvenile band again over the coming seasons.

✅ 10.45am - Ipswich Central Parade - Brisbane Road, Ipswich

🌟VOLUNTEER NEEDED🌟Have you ever wanted to join a pipe band? Do you love giving back to your community through volunteering? Why not do both? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

We are seeking a local volunteer to join us as Caretaker for our community hall. The City of Ipswich Pipe Band Hall, located in Limestone Park, provides a space for many community organisations and service providers, as well as hosting small functions. As Caretaker you will ensure the hall is kept ready for use, provide inspections for hirers, and stocking of hall amenities. This is typically 1-2 hours per week max.

In return you will be welcomed as a member of our Pipe Band community, and are welcome to tag along to all of our performances and rehearsals. Your volunteering will ensure that the local community continues to enjoy low cost use of our community hall.

The Caretaker position can be undertaken by a person of any age, with retirees a perfect fit. Living close to Limestone Park is an advantage.
