Please note that Litterbusters will not be running on Thursday (tomorrow). Due to Mrs Challen being on excursion with the Year 3 students, and Student Council being postponed until next term, Litterbusters will be running this Friday at 8:00am.
Next week will return to Thursday.

🚩🚩🚩School tuckshops are increasingly on the brink of financial collapse due to rising costs and a lack of volunteers, according to the Queensland Association of School Tuckshops (QAST) 🚩🚩🚩

Yes, a story from 2024, but still relevant today... We rely on our fabulous parents and grandparent volunteers for all that you do 👏👏👏

As the article notes, "school tuckshops are increasingly on the brink of financial collapse due to rising costs and a lack of volunteers". We'd hate to see that happen at Indooroopilly State School .

"The lack of volunteers often means schools hire paid tuckshop staff".

"Hiring fees and the cost-of-living crisis bites into tuckshop budgets ... with some struggling tuckshops closing and being replaced by private for-profit companies."

These for-profit providers typically have HIGHER prices and offer less healthy options than P&C-run tuckshops.

We have undertaken an TUCKSHOP TUNE-UP with QAST to help streamline our menu, processes and procedures. One of their recommendations was to engage more regular volunteers.

So, THANK YOU if you have given YOUR time - you're keeping our tuckshop community focussed and affordable.

State School families, please remember that parking in the Indooroopilly Veterinary Clinic car park across the road from the school is strictly prohibited. 👎

Despite this being communicated on numerous occasions, the school continues to receive reports of parents using these private spaces during drop-off and pick-up times. 😢

The veterinary clinic has clear signage displayed stating that the car park is private property, and they are within their rights to take action against vehicles parked there without permission. 🚨

The clinic requires these spaces for its clients, many of whom are attending urgent appointments with unwell animals, and some families’ disregard for these rules is causing significant inconvenience and frustration. 😿

With over 900 families at our school, it is essential that all members of our community follow the same expectations. If everyone chose to ignore the rules for their own convenience, the impact would be unmanageable. 😵‍💫

Now that our new building project is complete, there is considerably more street parking available around the school, and we ask all families to use the designated street parking areas respectfully and responsibly. 🥰

We appreciate the cooperation of the many families who already do the right thing and ask others to do the same. ✅
