Dear Families,

As you may have seen from Emma’s heartfelt message, she has made the decision to step away from the dance school to pursue new chapters in her journey. While we will miss seeing her in the studio, we are incredibly honored to carry The Silhouettes Dance Theatre legacy forward.

We want to officially reassure all our dancers and parents: The school is fully operational, and all classes are continuing exactly as scheduled!

Emma’s wish was for the school to continue with fresh energy, and we are already hard at work making that happen. In fact, to celebrate this new era, we have some exciting developments behind the scenes:

New Brand Identity: We are currently finalising a fresh new logo that honors our roots while looking toward the future.

New Website: We are building a brand-new, user-friendly website to make registrations and updates easier for our families.

Community: We are trying to become more active in the Huon Valley Community to inspire people to move and express themselves, so keep your eyes peeled for some fun events!

New Specialised Teachers: Introducing Miss B and Miss Amelia to the team! Miss B will be working closely with Tap, Ballet and Senior Jazz and Lyrical. While Miss Amelia, who has been a cherished part of The Silhouettes Family for years is stepping in a teacher role for some of the Junior classes!

And fear not! Miss K is moving into a Head Teacher role, so you can expect to see her leading the way and supporting all our dancers as usual!

We are so grateful for your continued support as we transition. Emma has left big shoes to fill, but we are ready to dance our way into this bright future with all of you.

Dear Parents and Students,

Writing this is far harder than I ever imagined it would be.

After a great deal of thought, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step away and retire from the dance school. This has not been an easy choice in any sense, as the school has been my world for such a long time, but it is one I feel is right.

I started the school back in 2013 with a simple dream and a huge amount of love for dance. What I never could have anticipated was the community that would grow from it. Over the years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of watching students blossom, gain confidence, find their passion, and grow not just as dancers, but as people. Seeing that progression has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

There are families and long-term dancers who have been with me for so many years that saying goodbye feels deeply personal. You haven’t just been students or parents — you have felt like family. I will truly miss our conversations, the laughter, the shared achievements, and the support we’ve given one another through so many chapters.

To my dancers: please keep dancing, keep believing in yourselves, and never forget how capable you are. Whether dance remains part of your future or simply a cherished chapter in your past, I hope it has given you confidence, resilience, and joy that you carry with you always. I will be forever proud of each and every one of you.

This school has been built on love, dedication, and belief in every dancer who walked through the door. Letting go is emotional, but I know it is time for the school to continue its journey with younger teachers who bring fresh energy and vibrancy, ensuring it thrives and grows for many years to come.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for trusting me, supporting me, and allowing me to be part of your lives. Every single dancer and family has left a mark on me, and I will carry those memories with me always.

This may be the end of this chapter, but it will forever remain one of the most meaningful parts of my life.

💫Meet our team!💫

Meet Amelia!

Amelia has been dancing for several years with The Silhouettes Dance Theatre. She has experience in jazz, ballet, tap and lyrical. Outside of dance, Amelia enjoys writing and looking after kids which makes her a perfect fit for our younger dancers!

Meet Kirralee!

With 12 years of dancing, Kirralee has done many years if jazz, tap and hip-hop. She has spent a lot of time performing on stage and has attended many competitions and dance events. Other than dancing, Kirralee loves spending time on her farm with her animals and she is currently studying a teaching degree!

Meet Kiara!

Kiara has danced for 15 years, with experience in jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical. She has been teaching at The Silhouettes Dance Theatre for the past 3 years! Kiara has also spent a lot of time performing on stage at competitions and events. Outside of dance, Kiara enjoys playing guitar and she is currently studying to be a Nurse!

Term 3 starts next week! First week is bring a friend for FREE to class week so make sure to bring along a friend and your dancing shoes so we can start with a blast!

Additionally, The Silhouettes Dance Theatre now offers Ticket To Play which can assist eligible families to help cover fees of our classes. For more info visit: tickettoplay.tas.gov.au
