Stig Stover Coaching

Stig Stover Coaching My Coaching is designed to support your individual Needs and Wants. I dedicate myself to coaching you along this essential process!

I will work with you to establish clarity around where you are at right now, and where you want to be in the future. I acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which I work and live. I respect their ongoing custodianship of the land. I pay my respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and Elders past and present. I was born in 1963 in the North of Norway, Holmstad Sortland
I moved to Hob

art Tasmania in 2007, and I now work and live in Howden Kingborough with my wife Anna. I have two daughters from my first marriage (Cathrine 1991 and Ida 1999), and two stepsons via Anna (Will 1998 and Toby 2001)

I have a Batchelor of Engineering, Control Science / Process Automation, and have worked for Nutreco/Skretting for over 27 years. 10 years in Norway and 17 years in Tasmania/Australia. I am a highly experienced Problem solver, manager and leader. I am experienced working in multicultural environments and bring all my experience across to my Coaching work. I am a cancer survivor and have experienced significant life trauma, enabling me to be very present to your experiences and challenges. Since almost 10 years I have been heavily engaged with an amazing environment of men that are active in supporting boys and men and their Health and Wellbeing, physical as well a mental. Learning how to engage and establish a safe non-judgemental environment has been profound and powerful. I pay tribute to my coaches and mentors within Tasmen Health and Wellbeing Association as well as Men's Resources Tasmania

I work across the three main tenants of personal and group existence:
- what we Know
- what we Do
- who we are Being

Most will acknowledge that in our lives we are making substantial efforts building Knowledge (Education), developing the skills to utilize this knowledge (Organize / Structure) BUT not much time and awareness assigned to looking after ourselves on a personal level. I assert that this is the main reason for so much stress and suffering, which in turn will also start to impact those around us (Family, Friends and Work)

I work both face to face and online. My client is English speaking or Norwegian speaking. I am very passionate about working with men and especially men in leadership, however any person who is interested in Personal Development Work can be my client.

I am reflecting on a string of observations of Ruptures emerging across the world as well as more locally, nations, states, communities, organizations, workplaces.

Once noticing it is hard to not keep seeing and paying attention to what seems to be going on, and what it might mean in a Macro as well as Micro level - If anything?

Maybe also worth making a note of the Chinese Zodiac for 2026, the Fire Horse. This is occurring every 60 years and is associated with purge (chaos even) and change, probably all random or what..?

How easy is it not to get drawn into all the drama and upset triggered and amplified by news and social media channels
Much is real and painful impacting our sense of security and certainty, and some is speculative and on the surface of it designed to create fear and uncertainty.

Come join me in my reflections in todays full blogpost:

Investing in the Essential Relationship
Winter silence at North West Bay on a Sunday morning.

Todays image is taken during a recent planned and prepared Date with my wife and business partner Anna.

I would like to share an experience I am living into with great gratitude and respect.
A deliberate and prioritized sequence of facilitated dates using the principles of John Gottman’s book ‘Eight Dates - Essential Conversations for a lifetime’.

It all started by a dear friend sharing that he and his wife had decided to give the book and its proposals a go as something to do together.

I never followed up with him on where this went for them, so I can only talk about how I and we have experienced this journey together.

I invited Anna to join me in this process and made a commitment to take on the mental and practical load of planning and organizing the dates, as I have to admit that this is typically something I am more than happy to let Anna take care of..!

Dawn at Blackmans Bay, southern Tasmania.

Holding the Space

Good morning, afternoon or evening wherever you are in the world when reading these words.

Have you ever heard anyone referencing Holding the Space, and what might that even mean to you?
What is it all about and what are possible applications?
I have learned about this principle at its significance through participation in (and facilitation of) safe and powerful Men’s group sessions.
The principle applies to all situations where we are in the presence of others, in particular one on one settings.
It is quite the opposite of what most of us are trained to consider conversation and interactions, pause and think about what I might mean here...
The most challenging part of Holding the Space for another person is to stop and pause our own critical brain and automatic response mechanism.
It is almost the exact opposite of a debate or an argument, our role is to grant the other person the privilege and safety to speak truthfully about what is on their minds.
No Response (apart from any clarifying questions), no fixing, no solutions, no judgement.
Just Holding the Space for another person, and truly Hear and See them. Listen.

I am discussing this in more depth in todays blogpost, come join me for a couple of minutes please:

Breathe.

What better practice to engage with when it comes to managing pressures and stress?
It sounds so simple and so naive even... It is NOT!
Using some basic methods to divert focus away from the vortex of thoughts and worries ruminating around in our minds is extremely powerful and important.
You may already be aware, and maybe occasionally even having a go at various times when the brain and thoughts are really revving up.

When I reference Practice, I am pointing to a regular process where we consciously set up a situation and time to just be with ourselves and use Breathing to give our brains a rest.
Can you afford to give yourself 30 minutes of self care practice?

Remove yourself briefly from any distractions like phones, music, social media, other people, notifications etc
Quiet and comfortable, lying down or sitting in bare feet with the soles of your feet on the ground surface.
Notice how our body and mind is slowly exhaling and our pulse is slowly settling down….

Check in on today's blog post, a simple practice example

Emotions - Let Them Flow

FIFA World Cup, The Beautiful Game is well and truly underway and for anyone caring for the game and their national representatives performance it is a rollercoaster of emotions.

Since I am so incredibly privileged to hold citizenship of Norway and Australia, I have been able to ‘‘ride both horses’’ up to now.
So sorry to see the Socceroo’s bow out already, BUT now all the attention is directed on cheering my native Norway soldiering on into the next stage.

Facing England in the quarterfinals - who would have dared believing in this a year or two ago?

I am very conscious about the various emotions and energies surging in my body as it all pans out in high definition (thanks to SBS for a brilliant coverage!)
Expectations and hope has been building up for some time as the results from the qualifications and initial stage has kept moving…

Check out my blogpost, digesting the latest result and journey so far.

Moments of feeling fully alive

Early Saturday morning, Kingston Beach Tasmania at the break of day.

Frosty sand, frosty fog in the first rays of the sun - water still double digit C’s.

Rugged up for 25 minutes of Wim Hof guided breathing in preparation for the cooling waters of the River Derwent with a bunch of great men.

Ripping of all the layers and wading into the water while feeling the rush in the blood and the shock to the whole body as dipping under.

Shouts and hollering, laughing - BEING FULLY THERE!

Then the amazing feeling of satisfaction and achievement when wading back to short to get dressed and start warming up, having overcome the temptation to skip the process this morning!
I did it - Again!

I know it is not for all, but this weekly routine has turned into one of my favorite activities for self care and collective experience.

Checking in with each other and see how we are all going.

A cuppa at the local cafe after, with light or deep conversations depending on what is happening at the time.

What are some of your routines and processes for looking after yourself and those around you?

If you are a man and would like to try hanging with a group of men like this, make contact with me for details.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Celebrations - and the Turning Point.

View of Sleeping Beauty (Collins Bonnet) from my morning walk in Howden.

Gorgeous morning at the important annual turning point, southern hemisphere Mid Winter. From here we are heading towards the light and longer days again, and today I am also experiencing gratitude around one of my favorite events: Football World Cup.

In the midst of all drama and horrors blanketing the news and media, this coming together across the world to celebrate The Beautiful Game is a true fresh breath of air.

Not without political stains and noise, once the whistle blow and the matches kicks off the energy - passion and celebrations kick in with incredible power.
Win or loose, this is always a journey of shared experience and stories that will live on across generations.
Fighting hard, and then celebrating together.
It is all good, and at the end of the day it is all about people coming together and co-experience an array of emotions and connections.

What is your favorite World Cup story or memory?
