Hey bird lovers! In recognition of the new research that there is potentially no more than 300 of the critically endangered swift parrots in the wild, there is a snap action in Parliament Lawns at 1pm! This is in opposition to the logging of habitat native forests and hope to end logging of old-growth forests altogether. Once a species is lost, they are gone forever. Hope to see you all there!

Hi lovely birders! Where Where We**ie is doing a crowdfunding! Please consider donating to this awesome citizen science program that will help conservation of the charismatic and threatened Tasmanian subspecies of the wedge-tailed eagles. They only have 3 days left for the campaign and are a few k's short! If they don't reach their target, they won't get the support they need, so every bit of $$$ helps if you have the capacity! Please share this around to your friends, family and your network if you can! Thank you so much legends.

Thank you so much everyone who came along today for a bird watching trip/rubbish pick up that also turns into orchids hunting and frog song listening session at Peter Murrell Reserve! Things we found: from microplastics to yellow threaded honeyeater to flying duck orchids to banjo frogs! What a lovely trip.

From Dr Cat Young
"Some colleagues of mine are doing a survey on bin opening behaviour of cockatoos. Would greatly appreciate it if you could fill out this short survey for them.
It's really important for them to know where the behaviour doesn't occur so please fill it out even if you've seen cockatoos at home but never witnessed them opening bins. THANK YOU!

On we are celebrating the majestic and endangered Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle, and the researchers working hard to protect them 🌏🦅
The University of Tasmania's Dr James Pay goes to great heights to attach tiny 'backpack' trackers on juvenile wedgies and receives constant text messages alerting him to the birds' movements bit.ly/UTAS_Digital-eagle-eye
