ADVOCACY CONSULTANCY TUTORING
Partnering with families, schools and allied health professionals for improved educational outcomes.

03/02/2026

Pontoon was built by educators and school leaders who knew this work deeply, not just in theory or policy, but in lived experience. We knew what it costs to advocate for a child: the emotional labour, the vigilance, the quiet grief, and the constant translating between systems that were never designed with every learner in mind.

We knew the toll because we had carried it ourselves as professionals, as parents, and as people who had cried in cars after meetings and rehearsed conversations long after the house was quiet. At some point, we made a conscious decision that this would not just be our story. What we had learned, often the hard way, would become a roadmap for someone else walking the same path behind us. And so - Pontoon was born - first a team of two, then three and now 12! We are so grateful -basedteaching Thankyou to our early supporters and partners - especially Square Pegs Tasmania Dyslexia Support & Advocacy and Archer Street Health for your work, your support and stewardship.

To the families we work alongside at Pontoon - thank you.

Thank you for the juggle, the trust, the late afternoons, the schedules rearranged, and the deep commitment you show to your children’s learning and wellbeing. We see it, and we don’t take it lightly.

And to our new families - thank you for your patience as we work carefully through our waitlist. We know waiting is not easy, and we truly appreciate your understanding. We are getting there.

As this year draws to a close, we hope you’re able to genuinely pause, rest, and reset. You deserve it.

Looking ahead, there are exciting developments on the horizon. The year ahead will see the launch of our secondary tutoring and ATAR support arm, alongside our continued partnerships in advocacy, literacy, and capacity-building - all grounded in evidence, care, and equity.

We are so grateful to walk this journey with you and look forward to what’s next.

Wishing you and your families a restorative break and a safe and merry festive season🎄

See you in 2026!! 📚🖊️🧮✏️🎓📝

Every so often, a parent email arrives that stops us in our tracks. This one filled us with gratitude for the trust families place in our services. 🙏
As we read this father’s letter, we were reminded of the profound, far-reaching impact that strong language and literacy skills have on a child’s confidence, wellbeing and trajectory. ✨

Every child deserves access to instruction that works. At Pontoon Education, our approach is intensive, explicit, and multi-sensory - grounded in the science of reading and designed to ensure no student is left behind.
Change is urgent, and together with incredible organisations like Code REaD Dyslexia Network, Square Pegs Tasmania Dyslexia Support & Advocacy and Five From Five we are working to make high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction the standard, not the exception.

All kids need a champion and we sure lost a good one. Thank you to our Pontoon family for your understanding and your grace as our co-founder Georgia tends to her 💔. So much of her father is etched into our start-up story and we couldn’t be prouder.

Without doubt, early identification and appropriate intervention are crucial for every person that struggles to read, but our personalised accommodations and provisions are also essential to help every dyslexic student to survive and thrive in school.
And despite what many people think, these accommodations are not ‘cheating’, they just help us to level the playing field.
School is already tough enough for us dyslexics, we shouldn’t have the added burden of also having to defend our use of accommodations.
Accommodations are just a tool to help us access the
curriculum in a way that makes sense to us, helping us to survive and thrive in the classroom!
It is these accommodations that can become our game changers!
