Pontoon was built by educators and school leaders who knew this work deeply, not just in theory or policy, but in lived experience. We knew what it costs to advocate for a child: the emotional labour, the vigilance, the quiet grief, and the constant translating between systems that were never designed with every learner in mind.
We knew the toll because we had carried it ourselves as professionals, as parents, and as people who had cried in cars after meetings and rehearsed conversations long after the house was quiet. At some point, we made a conscious decision that this would not just be our story. What we had learned, often the hard way, would become a roadmap for someone else walking the same path behind us. And so - Pontoon was born - first a team of two, then three and now 12! We are so grateful -basedteaching Thankyou to our early supporters and partners - especially Square Pegs Tasmania Dyslexia Support & Advocacy and Archer Street Health for your work, your support and stewardship.
