Royal Academy of Dance Australia ballet exams begin this Wednesday! 🩰✨

We are incredibly excited for our beautiful students as they step into the studio to be examined and showcase their hard work, dedication and love of ballet.

House of Dance is a proud RAD school and has supported the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus and examinations throughout our entire 27-year history.

It’s Royal Academy of Dance Australia ballet exam week at HOD! 🩰

For all 27 years of House of Dance, our ballet students have proudly undertaken Royal Academy of Dance examinations....and for the past 13 years, we have had the privilege of hosting those exams in-house, right here in our own studio.

Today, 40 students are sitting their mock exams, and having Sarah back in the studio this week feels like the perfect reminder of where this special chapter began.

Sarah was the very first HOD ballet student to be examined in our own studio, beginning with Grade 3. She continued all the way through to Advanced 2, achieving Distinctions throughout her incredible RAD journey.

Sarah performed at several RAD Galas in Melbourne, competed at The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition in London and won the prestigious Joan Burnett Scholarship Award as well as many other RAD scholarships and prizes.

After studying and being mentored by Shayne, Sarah completed her RAD teaching qualification last year. She is now a fully qualified and registered RAD teacher, inspiring the next generation of dancers in Sydney.

Twenty-seven years of RAD exams. Thirteen years of welcoming examiners into our own studio. And one very special dancer who helped begin that in-house tradition.

Sarah will always be a poster girl for RAD and House of Dance. 🧡🩰

(and YES we have been doing RAD exams since the start of HOD ....first with the amazing Debra Butterworth (through Barbara Todd ) and then onto Shayne in house at our studio)

As winter begins to fade, the Kingdom awakens in anticipation of spring.

Guided by the beautiful Spring Fairy and the joyful Bard of Spring, the creatures of the land begin preparing for a colourful celebration. The Summer, Autumn and Winter Fairies arrive, each bringing a little magic from their own season, while the first blossoms gently begin to open.

Join our dancers for a magical celebration filled with fairies, flowers, birds, busy bugs, woodland creatures and a few cheeky characters as we welcome new beginnings and the joyful arrival of spring.

Lead Characters and Cast

Spring Fairy — Chloe Marsden
The gentle guardian who awakens the Kingdom and welcomes the arrival of spring.

Bard of Spring — Will Kiseljev
The joyful storyteller who guides the Kingdom through the changing seasons.

Ice Queen — Grace Legosz
The powerful ruler of winter who is reluctant to let her frozen kingdom disappear.

Summer Fairies — Molly Verrier and Brigitte Gravell
Bring warmth, sunshine and golden light to the land.

Autumn Fairies — Esther Walsh and Chloe Taylor
Carry the final falling leaves away, preparing the Kingdom for renewal.

Winter Fairies — Violet O’Brien and Sybella Millington
Show that winter also has beauty and an important place in the Kingdom.

Butterfly Princesses — Yazmin Andrews, Nicoletta Glynatsis and Seren Whittaker
Lead the butterflies as they emerge and flutter through the blossoming spring garden.

Queen Raven — Sydney McInnes
The Ice Queen’s watchful messenger, who soars over the Kingdom.

Woodland Wolf — Calliope Xintavelonis
A clever and playful character who leads the cheeky woodland creatures.

Woodland Fox — Evelyn Churchill
A mischievous fox who loves all the animals and simply wants to be their friend.
