Thank you to our students, staff, families and friends for your enthusiasm, creativity and support in making this year's Book Week Parade such a memorable celebration.

This year's theme, A Symphony of Stories, was brought to life at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School through an amazing range of costumes inspired by favourite books and characters. From heroes and villains to magical creatures and storybook favourites, our parade highlighted the joy of reading and the power of stories to inspire, entertain and connect us all.

What an incredible day for our Year 6 students from Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Patrick’s School as they explored the beauty and significance of St Mary’s Cathedral. Throughout the day, students deepened their understanding of the rich history of the Catholic faith in Perth and joined the wider community in celebrating Midday Mass.

The retreat provided a meaningful opportunity for reflection and spiritual growth as our Year 6 students continue their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

We had a wonderful time at the pilgrim relic of St Carlo Acutis this morning. As the first group of children to visit, we could not be more proud of the way every student in Years Five and Six conducted themselves and represented our school. Their reverence, engagement and respectful behaviour were outstanding throughout the experience.

We encourage you to ask your child to share something they learnt during the visit. It was a valuable opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the life and faith of St Carlo Acutis and to reflect on his inspiring example.

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome back some of our former students, including members of Mr Lerede’s very first class at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

It is incredible how quickly time flies, although seeing you all again certainly made us feel a little older!

Thank you for sharing your wisdom, experiences and laughter with our Year 6 students on Leadership Day. We are so proud of the remarkable young people you have become and grateful that you took the time to inspire the next generation of OLMC students.

Yesterday, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School proudly hosted our annual Year 6 Leadership Day alongside students from Our Lady of Fatima and St Patrick's Primary School.

This year's theme, "Becoming the Best Version of Me", encouraged students to reflect on their leadership potential, personal growth and the positive impact they can have on others.

The day began with a student-led liturgy before students participated in a series of team-building challenges. These activities encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, collaborate with new peers and build connections across schools.

Following a highly competitive and entertaining soccer-filled recess, we were delighted to welcome Zero2Hero back to our school. Students took part in engaging workshops focusing on Leadership and Core Values, Let's Talk Resilience, and Love Yourself, providing valuable insights into leadership, wellbeing and self-awareness.

A special thank you to Mrs Lynch, whose barbecue skills ensured our sausage sizzle lunch was a huge success, with many students eagerly returning for seconds.

After another lunchtime of impressive soccer skills, expertly supervised by Mr O'Neill, students gathered in the hall for the final and most anticipated session of the day.

To conclude Leadership Day, we welcomed back four familiar faces: Zoey, Aarush, Jonas and Kate. Our former students generously shared their experiences, wisdom and advice as part of our Secondary School Leaders Q&A panel. Their stories, reflections and sense of humour provided inspiration and reassurance for our future leaders as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.

A sincere thank you to Mr O'Neill, Mrs Lynch, zero2hero, Our Lady of Fatima School, and St Patrick's Primary School Fremantle for helping make this year's Leadership Day such a memorable and meaningful experience.

We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 6 students embraced the opportunities throughout the day and demonstrated what it means to be the best version of themselves.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School was honoured to have a student selected to read the Universal Prayer at yesterday's Opening Mass for the Catholic Performing Arts Festival at St Mary's Cathedral.

We are incredibly proud of the way he embraced this special opportunity.

Congratulations to our Year 6 leaders, who proudly represented Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in the Bible Reading competition at the Chapel of St Michael the Archangel on Day 1 of the Performing Arts Festival.

Jesus Explains the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:18-23), and Jesus, the Way to the Father (John 14:1-9) were presented.

Both girls delivered their readings with beautiful phrasing, clear diction, and deep reverence. Their outstanding performances were recognised with overwhelmingly positive feedback, achieving Outstanding and Excellent results across all assessment areas.

A truly sensational effort by both girls. We are incredibly proud of your dedication, talent, and faith-filled presentations.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Year 6 parents for organising our Sausage Sizzle. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the end of Semester 1 and bring our school community together.
