Student first, interest led piano lessons. All ages, all abilities. Exploring the musical rainbow

04/01/2026

We all start somewhere. This photo was taken around 2000/2001 - I'd just completed my Preliminary exam, and while I was happy with my result, I was NOT happy with the thought there were 8 more exams to do :D In fact, I got so frustrated with the process, I ended up almost quitting not long after this. It was a hard road back, but I had a good teacher that was flexible and supportive. I eventually not only did all my exams through to Grade 8, but also did Grades 2 through 6 in Piano for Leisure, and Grade 3 and 4 and CPM (what would later become Rock School), as well as up to Grade 6 in Theory. And while I truly believe exams aren't for everyone (and I really wish I'd had an option like Con brio "back in my day"), I am grateful for the support of my family and brilliant teachers that i made it that far in the end

Another year, another journey into music. Reminder that holiday lessons will start up again from January 12th. Spots are limited moving into the new term, especially after school hours, so please hurry and get in touch to secure your place. Big things are coming this year. Thank you for all the continued support throughout our biggest year yet, and the even bigger year to come!

Please be advised that due to Easter, ANZAC Day and my commitments with Accent Theatre and Ordinary Days, I will not be running lessons for the next two weeks, other than a few special arrangements. Regular schedule will commence Week 2, Term 2 (April 27th onwards). Have a safe and happy holidays all, and don't forget, if you are free ANZAC long weekend to come and check out Ordinary Days at MADCOTA
