It’s time for our wonderful Early Years 4 students to SHINE! 💙💚🧡
Our EY4 learners have made a fantastic start to the term — settling confidently into their classroom routines, building their independence and getting involved in lots of hands-on learning.
From literacy and numeracy to imaginative play, music, sensory experiences and plenty of opportunities to communicate, explore and have fun, there is lots of learning happening in this busy classroom. Students have even been stepping into the roles of customers and shopkeepers as part of their Drama learning!
We love seeing the confidence, communication, social skills and independence of our youngest learners continue to grow.
👏 A big shout-out to our EY4 students and the wonderful team supporting them every day.

🌟 LEARNING TOGETHER, GROWING TOGETHER — RESULTS WORTH CELEBRATING 🌟
We are incredibly proud to share a snapshot of our Semester 1 learning outcomes at Hervey Bay Special School. These results reflect some outstanding achievement across English and Mathematics for students accessing an Individual Curriculum Plan.
But for us, this is not about achieving higher results than other schools. It is about an unwavering focus on the learning and achievement of every student.
It is about knowing where each young person is in their learning and continually asking ourselves: Where are they now? What is their next lift in learning? And what do we need to do differently, or more deliberately, to help them get there?
Behind every percentage is a young person who has learnt something they could not do before. Behind every step forward are classroom teachers and teacher aides who know their students, personalise learning, celebrate the small gains and keep looking for the next opportunity to move learning forward.
We are enormously proud of our classroom teams and the high expectations they hold for our young people.
These results are a reflection of their skill, persistence and belief that every student can learn and every student can make progress.
And that is what is really worth celebrating. 💙💚🧡

Another busy week ahead at HBSS!
This week we continue building our students’ communication, independence and literacy skills — including our weekly focus on asking when we need to use the bathroom and our Letter Sound of the Week.
📣 A reminder to our families: the 2026 School Opinion Survey closes this Friday, 21 August. If you haven’t yet had your say, please check your email for your survey link. Your feedback helps us continue to shape the best possible learning environment for our students.
And don’t forget — Coffee@Hervey’s is open to HBSS families on Friday mornings from 9:30–10:30am. ☕💙

A reminder that ICP Parent Meetings continue until Friday 14 August, with bookings available through SOBS.
