Celebrating National Science Week!

During National Science Week, our little scientists have been busy exploring, experimenting and discovering!

The children enjoyed a range of hands-on science experiences, including exploring magnets, watching colours change in water, and observing the exciting reaction between vinegar and baking soda.

There were lots of curious faces and exciting “wow” moments as the children watched each experiment unfold. Through these experiences, they were encouraged to observe, predict, ask questions and explore cause and effect, supporting their curiosity, problem-solving skills and understanding of the world around them.

What a wonderful week of wondering, discovering and learning together!

We loved sharing a glimpse into our daily routines, learning experiences, and the rhythm of our Kindergarten room. Our goal was to not only show you the space but to give you a sense of the care and learning philosophy that will guide your child's journey next year.

To celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, our educators planned a range of meaningful learning experiences across the center:
Culinary Learning: Our Cooking Leader prepared traditional damper with the children, exploring Indigenous ingredients and food traditions.
Collaborative Art & Cultural Respect: Three of our rooms came together for a joint artwork and a heart-felt Acknowledgement of Country, fostering a sense of community and connection.
Toddler Exploration: Our toddlers explored the significance of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags through color, art, and sensory play.
Thank you to our dedicated team for embedding rich cultural learning into our daily curriculum!

Over the weekend, our amazing team came together for a well-deserved team building day to celebrate a massive milestone—achieving Exceeding in all 7 Quality Areas in our Assessment & Rating! 🎉👏

Our wonderful childcare community came together in the coziest way over the past two days to celebrate National Pyjama Day!⭐

The children had lots of fun engaging in a range of pyjama activities like making dream catchers, decorating a big blanket together, and hosting mini sleepover parties with their friends! 🧸

A massive THANK YOU to our wonderful families and amazing staff for donating to the National Pyjama Foundation, a charity that supports children in foster care with books, programs and educational resources.📚

At Little Lane, we believe that the strongest foundation for a child's growth is built when families and educators work hand in hand. 🤝✨

This week, we were absolutely delighted to host our Parent-Teacher Information Session for Terms 3 and 4. It was a wonderful opportunity to share valuable insights into our classroom learning experiences, discuss curriculum goals, and explore meaningful ways families can extend and support this learning at home. 🏡🎨

For our wonderful Kindergarten graduate groups, this session also marked an important milestone. We were proud to guide and support our families through:
🏫 Navigating the primary school enrollment process
📝 Completing the Transition Learning and Development Statements (TLDS)
💡 Accessing essential information regarding additional needs and Second-Year Kindergarten Funding applications

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Day on Saturday, 11 July 2026! It was wonderful to welcome so many new families into our Little Lane Montessori community.

Visitors enjoyed exploring our beautiful prepared learning environments, meeting our passionate educators and discovering what makes Montessori education so special. Children had a fantastic time participating in hands-on activities including creative arts and crafts, planting herbs, face painting, and meeting our adorable guinea pigs. Families also enjoyed delicious treats from our Chef and a coffee while connecting with our team.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share our vision of nurturing confident, capable and independent learners through meaningful, child-led experiences.

Thank you to our incredible educators and staff whose enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication made the day such a success. We are so grateful for your hard work in creating such a welcoming and engaging experience for every family who visited.

A vital part of building a child's sense of belonging is learning about the Country on which we gather, play, and learn daily. To us, Country is more than just geography—it includes the land, waterways, skies, plants, animals, and the stories that connect them. 🗺️🍃🦅

By encouraging the children to notice seasonal changes, native plants, and local birds, we allow First Nations perspectives to weave naturally into our everyday learning. We look forward to continuing this meaningful journey with our children and families all year round. ✨
