In our Montessori Nido environment, freedom of movement is thoughtfully supported through carefully prepared spaces, including the low mirror and cruising bar ✨

As children pull to stand, take cautious side steps, and cruise along the bar, they are strengthening balance, coordination, confidence, and independence at their own natural pace. Watching her pause to notice her own reflection - and delight in what she sees - is a beautiful part of this stage of self-discovery and growing self-awareness. 🤍

These simple yet purposeful elements of the environment encourage movement, concentration, and joyful exploration every day. 🌿

Our preschool children have stepped into the role of early engineers this week, engaging in a hands-on introduction to coding and technology using our Bee-Bot robots. 🤖✨

This intentional, play-based STEM experience directly supports our school transition goals by fostering advanced cognitive and social-emotional development. As children press the sequential arrows, they practice early numeracy, spatial awareness, and cooperative problem-solving.

Mums & Bubs Session Today!

What a wonderful morning spent connecting, learning and sharing together at our Mums & Bubs Session today.

It was lovely to welcome families into our centre and provide a warm, supportive space where parents and caregivers could meet, chat and engage in meaningful experiences with their little ones. The babies enjoyed exploring age-appropriate activities, while parents had the opportunity to connect with others in the community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the session such a special and enjoyable experience. We look forward to seeing you again at our next Mums & Bubs gathering!

For National Reconciliation Week, our intentional teaching practice has centered around the theme 'We Are All In.' By embedding a variety of expressive art, oral storytelling, collaborative yarning circles, and sensory walks around the land, we have supported the children in understanding the core values of reconciliation—specifically respect, equality, and treating everyone fairly.

This special week has provided a meaningful platform for the children to celebrate our Indigenous friends, recognize the history of this land, and actively participate in conversations about looking after one another and walking together in friendship. This experience beautifully strengthens our community connections and aligns with our commitment to anti-bias education.

In a Montessori environment, the smallest observations often become the biggest learning moments ⚽️✨

By watching the older children, learning begins naturally, bend, pick up, drop, kick. Through observation, repetition, and hands-on experience, confidence grows one little step at a time.

These everyday moments help children develop coordination, concentration, independence, and a sense of belonging within their community 💛

Today our toddlers had the best day playing at Hepburn Park, running, laughing, and enjoying the sunshine together with so much confidence and enthusiasm.
After all the fun, everyone relaxed with a lovely picnic surrounded by nature.

It was wonderful to see how confidently the children walked together and how many of the skills we have been practising at the centre were reflected throughout our excursion. The children demonstrated growing independence, listened carefully to instructions, showed awareness of their surroundings, and engaged so positively with their peers.

We were so proud to see their confidence, cooperation, and curiosity shine outside of the centre environment.

🦷✨ Yesterday, our children at Little Lane Montessori Doncaster enjoyed a wonderful FREE Oral Health Education Session and Dental Screening with the amazing team from Little Chompers Dental!

The session was filled with fun, interactive learning experiences that helped our children understand the importance of healthy teeth, brushing habits, and caring for their smiles from an early age. 😁🪥

We are so grateful to the team for providing such a valuable and engaging experience for our children and for supporting healthy habits within our learning community.

A big thank you to the friendly dental professionals for making oral health education fun, positive, and child-friendly! 💙
