Today our preschoolers had such a special day celebrating NAIDOC at Yenda Public School. 🌿
Our children proudly began the celebration by doing the Acknowledgement of Country and singing “Barramundi” using Wiradjuri language. It was so lovely to see them confidently sharing their culture and language with everyone. 🖤💛❤️
We then enjoyed a cultural lesson with Uncle Allan, who shared his knowledge and culture with the students.
There were lots of different workshops happening throughout the classrooms. Aunty Tegan and Aunty Mary ran an ochre workshop and painted around 150 students, as well as our preschoolers!
Aunty Amanda worked with the students to create a beautiful canvas, while Aunty Carolyn read a lovely story to the children.
Aunty Shailyn and Aunty Kez made delicious Johnny Cakes, and the wonderful teachers at Yenda Public School treated us to yummy sausage sandwiches for lunch!
A huge thank you to all the staff and students at Yenda Public School for welcoming us and making us feel so comfortable. We had such a fun day filled with culture, language, learning, sharing, art, food and lots of smiles!
We are so proud of our little ones for getting up in front of everyone and sharing their culture. 🌿🧡
Thank you Yenda Public School — we had the best day! 🖤💛❤️
