SCHOOL SUPPORT RECOGNITION WEEK
It is a privilege to once again acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work of our support staff at Hanwood Public School! Our School Learning Support Officers, Administration Team and General Assistants are inspirational in supporting our students and teachers, they are our first point of call in the office to help HPS families, they communicate important information and keep our school grounds maintained and looking amazing (just to name a few key areas). They demonstrate care at all times. What our support staff do, every school day, is immensely valued and appreciated. Thank you to all of our amazing HPS support staff, and we celebrate all of you during this School Support Recognition Week- 2026!

For our new Hanwood Public Preschool, we welcomed Uncle Allan McKenzie to our school to lead smoking ceremonies both prior to the build in 2025, and on the Hanwood Public Preschool opening day this week to both cleanse and protect our new preschool site. On the opening day, we also had a visit from Carolyn Williams, who painted the artwork that features throughout the preschool. Carolyn was able to speak with HPS students about the significance of the artwork. We are very proud of the connection our preschool has to the Wiradjuri nation, with the preschool rooms named “budyabudya” (butterfly) and “gugaa” (goanna) in Wiradjuri language. What a wonderful connection to culture for our preschool at HPS!

Welcome to our Hanwood Public preschoolers!

Today, we welcomed our very first group of new preschoolers and their families into our school community. They were joined by our preschool educators and teachers. Throughout the week, we will continue to welcome our very first preschool cohort at Hanwood Public Preschool.

Our new preschool operates from 9:25am to 3:25pm on school days. We look forward to welcoming our preschoolers to upcoming school events as part of our school community.

🐝 PREMIER’S SPELLING BEE 🐝
Hanwood Public School students Patrick and Zeph have taken part in the Regional Finals of the 2026 Premier’s Spelling Bee. They both represented our school very well, taking the opportunity to apply their spelling skills to spell difficult words. Well done, Patrick and Zeph! The smiles show that the Regional Finals were an enjoyable event!
