Yesterday we were very excited to welcome our local Member of Parliament, Nathan Hagarty, to Rossmore Public School.
Nathan is the Member for Leppington in the New South Wales Parliament. His role is to represent the people in our local community, listen to their ideas and concerns, and work to improve the places where we live, learn and play. Members of Parliament help make decisions about important issues such as schools, roads, parks, hospitals and community services.
Over the past few weeks, our year 5 & 6 Barking Owls students have been learning about persuasive writing and the importance of using their voices to create positive change.
They have been inspired by Nathan's commitment to supporting local communities and standing up for issues that matter. Through this learning, our students have written thoughtful letters about causes they care about and have discovered that even young people can make a difference.
Yesterday was a wonderful opportunity for us to share our learning, ask questions about leadership and community service, and learn more about how democracy works in action

We’ve had our very first egg hatch 🐣
All of our K-2 students will be spending time observing, learning about and interacting with this fluffy little friend and any others who hatch over the coming weeks.

Magpies have been enjoying exploring living and non-living things in science, learning that living things need food and water, change and grow over time and move on their own. They have loved getting up close to snails, lizards, moths and seedlings as well as rocks, plastic and metal.
