I have loved running my FDC, however I have made the hard decision to close Kit’s Family Daycare.
Running my own family daycare has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. It has given me countless happy moments, the privilege of caring for beautiful little humans, and the flexibility to have my own children home with me as much as possible, something I will always be grateful for.
I’ve also truly loved sharing some of our special moments here online and connecting with families and other FDC educators along the way.
While this chapter is coming to an end, I’m looking forward to the future my family will create without FDC. For now, I’ll be hoping to step back into a leadership role within the sector, something I’ve deeply missed. I’m excited to return to once again be leading teams and mentoring and supporting the incredible educators our sector so desperately needs.
And who knows… maybe one day I’ll return to FDC a model of care I truly believe in for children under the age of three.
For now, thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. 🤍

WINTER CHRISTMAS SENSORY PLAY ❄️🎅✨
Today’s sensory tray was completely child-led — our little ones set it up all on their own using the gorgeous winter resin pieces from 😍
They loved scooping the “ice cubes” and soft white pom poms into the beautiful resin bowls, exploring textures, colours and imaginative Christmas play. It was such a magical way to embrace our festive theme ❄️💙
I love watching their creativity shine when they take the lead in preparing their own invitations to play.

💦 Today the children had a blast exploring our mud kitchen — complete with a real working tap! 🪣✨
They mixed, poured, scooped, and created all sorts of muddy “recipes,” learning through hands on play and teamwork. Along the way, we also talked about water wastage — why it’s important to turn off taps when not in use 💧 and how we can reuse and conserve water in our everyday routines.
To finish, we practiced washing our dishes just like at home — learning about hygiene, responsibility, and sustainability all at once 🧼🌿

✨ Our first Christmas activity of 2025! 🎄
We’re feeling the festive spirit already — kicking off our Christmas fun with a sensory tray with last years left overs featuring ginger bread man tray✨. The children loved diving into some of last year’s Christmas resources while we wait for our brand new shipment of festive goodies to arrive! 🎁
It’s always so special watching their excitement build as we begin decorating, crafting, and talking about all things Christmas. ❤️

💀✨ Spooky Sensory Fun! ✨💀
Last week the children got creative in our mud kitchen, mixing up some spooky red “potion water” in our skull-shaped water dispenser! 💧👻 They loved watching the glitter swirl and sparkle as they poured, scooped, and stirred their magical mixtures.
This open ended sensory play encouraged imagination, fine motor skills, and social interaction — all while getting delightfully messy in true Halloween style! 🎃🧪

🎃✨ Goodbye October, Hello Christmas Magic! ✨🎄
What an incredible month October has been, filled with spooky fun, sensory play, Halloween crafts, and lots of laughter! The children explored textures, colours, and imagination through everything from green slime and glowing eyes 👀 to pumpkins and pretend potions.
As we wave goodbye to our spooky season, we’re so excited to welcome the sparkle and joy of Christmas! 🌟
November and December will be all about kindness, giving, and togetherness, as we dive into festive crafts, Christmas sensory trays, songs, and celebrations from around the world. 🌍❤️
It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year at Kit’s Family Daycare, full of love, laughter, and learning through play.

🕷️🩸 Messy play at its spookiest! Today the children explored our shaving foam, eyeball & spider sensory tray — a creepy, squishy, slimy experience that had everyone giggling and gasping! 👀🕸️
The children used their hands and tools to scoop, stir, squish, and mix, discovering new textures and colours as the red swirled through the foam. This activity encouraged sensory exploration, creativity, and fine motor development — all while having an absolute blast!
It got a little messy (okay, maybe a lot 😅) — but that’s all part of the fun and learning!

🧙♀️✨ Room on the Broom Sensory Play ✨🧹
At the beginning of the month, we brought one of our favourite stories — Room on the Broom — to life with a magical sensory tray!
30/09/2025
The children loved scooping, moulding, and “serving” up their own pretend ice cream creations, from triple scoop sundaes to sprinkle covered cones. This sensory rich play supported their fine motor skills, imagination, and social interactions as they took turns being the ice cream maker and customer.
Play like this encourages creativity, language development, and cooperative play, all while having loads of fun! 💛✨
Would you like sprinkles on yours? 🍦😄

🍋✨ Sensory Tray Fun ✨🍋
Today’s tray invited our babies to explore with their senses using dried lemon slices and smooth wooden curtain rings. The little ones loved feeling the rough, wrinkly texture of the lemons and were very curious to give them a taste… lots of funny sour faces! 😝 The natural wooden rings added a cool, smooth texture to grasp, roll, and bang together, supporting fine motor development.
Simple materials, endless exploration 💛
