BEST HABIT OF 2020👌🧻
There were a few thoughts I would expect to start lurking in the back of my mind at Christmas in the past.
"I really should be further along in my life..."
I often had this underlying energy of "NOT this... I really DON'T want to feel like this next year... "
My entire focus was on things I did NOT want to feel or did NOT have. Fail 🤦🏼♀️
One thing I have realised this year and wanted to share is the power of gratitude - in ANY situation.
I have the G word written on my bathroom mirror so it's the first thing I see when I wake up as my brain starts (slowly) coming to life, and one of the last things I see before bed.
I literally spend a couple of minutes staring in the mirror, focussing on a few things that I'm genuinely thankful for. Sometimes it's really deep and meaningful stuff like having good toilet paper, nice tasting toothpaste or a good pair of tweezers handy to pluck my cursed eyebrows with...
Other days it's stuff I won't make lame jokes about. Like simply having woken up, the sun being out or the freedom to walk along the beach to get a coffee.
I share this because intentionally making this practice part of my day as soon as I'm awake, has TRULY changed my life for the better.
I'm calmer, more relaxed about starting my day, not so hard on myself for various things and generally a lot less triggered by stupid stuff that may play out throughout the day.
Gratitude costs nothing. Most of the things I find myself being grateful for cost very little or nothing at all.
Take a breath and focus on what you HAVE got 🙏
Even if it's just that incredible feeling of soft, luxurious 3ply loo roll on your bum during a visit to the bathroom at some point... there was a time not so long ago when a lot of people couldn't get it 🤪
I jest. But you'll be surprised how much implementing a bit of extra gratitude - in even the silliest of moments - can change your state of mind. Which in turn will change your life.
Happy Christmas Eve Team!🎄🥰
