A seed is symbolic of a new beginning, new growth and the start of a new journey. In this instance, its a journey towards learning Te Reo & Tīkanga Māori, Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to "Te Kākano o Te Reo" (The Seed of The Language, A New Journey). The purpose of this programme is:
- To provide a genuine avenue for people living in Gold Coast, Logan and South Brisbane to learn Te Reo & Tīkanga Māori. In addition, we also deliver Te Reo programs ONLINE for the wider community all across Australia.
- To develop and increase the conversational ability of the akonga (student), at a basic, advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced levels.
- To provide learning in a relaxed, whanau orientated, fun and safe learning environment. We have ten years experience teaching and facilitating courses at Certificate, Advanced Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels at The University of Waikato and Te Wananga o Aotearoa. We also have over 15yrs experience working in administration and teaching at Te Kohanga Reo. We have extended experience performing many different roles at the marae from speaking on the paepae and calling on the marae atea, delivering karakia to washing dishes, sweeping dinning halls and picking up rubbish. We have facilitated many events at marae such as tertiary level symposiums, tangihanga, weddings, birthdays and whanau reunions. Te Kakano o Te Reo was established in 2015 and we are in the middle of our 8th intake, which started in October 2021 and is currently in progress. We also have Online Programs currently in progress as well. Nau mai, piki mai, kake mai... Come on board and join us. Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.
