Pre-empting , do you look ahead at important dates coming up in the year? Let me put it this way, formal season is huge, grade 10 and grade 12 students are already purchasing their dresses, why are you not advertising for their hair appointments? This is two appointments that they need. The first one is for their colour and cut to keep their style fresh for the day, and the second appointment is the hairstyle for formal. ALSO!! I know it sounds like we are far away from Christmas, it’s actually only two appointments from this week, start this conversation with your clients now and look at the difference in your projected revenue, whilst also thinking ahead for your clients.

What I wish I knew before I opened my salon.
- Having a business mentor
- Have an incredible accountant
- You can never start hiring too early .. but don’t over staff
- Bigger is not always better
- Hire outside of the floor

I learnt very early on.. you can’t do it all and it’s ok. You aren’t meant to do it all. Hire people who have strengths outside your comfort zone, who know what they are actually doing. This will allow you to put all of your focus in where you WANT to be in your business.
