Thinking of applying for protection visa as a last resort to stay in Australia? NO, NO, NO!

There is some bad advice going around on protection visas. Especially on social media.

Some student and temporary visa holders, worried about getting another visa, are being told to apply for a protection visa to keep working for a few years. This is a terrible idea for a few reasons.

1. It is highly unlikely will ever get a visa to another country if you have a failed protection visa application for Australia. Why would another country risk giving you a visa if you might do the same thing there?

2. The immigration department is putting together a new tribunal to speed through protection visa cases. They have had enough of people abusing the system.

2. You are delaying the safety of people genuinely in need of protection from persecution and abuse.

4. There is the perception that you can get sponsored from a protection visa. While you might be eligible, there is a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) criteria that you will likely fail. You just tried to apply for permanent visa for Australia, so you look very suspicious trying to apply for a temporary work visa. Your character also looks very questionable.

If you believe that you are GENUINELY eligible to for protection visa, please seek professional advice from a respected migration agent or lawyer. This is a very serious visa to apply for.

Do NOT listen to advice on social media.
