The 4 Principles of Assessment | VET Explained

In the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, assessment is guided by four core principles to ensure quality and consistency: Fairness, Flexibility, Validity, and Reliability. These principles, along with the Rules of Evidence (Validity, Sufficiency, Authenticity, and Currency), ensure that learners are assessed fairly and accurately.
Rules of Evidence
Alongside the four principles, assessors must also apply the Rules of Evidence when judging whether student work is sufficient. The four rules are Validity (the evidence matches the unit requirements), Sufficiency (there is enough evidence to make a confident judgement), Authenticity (the work is genuinely the student's own), and Currency (the evidence reflects current skills and knowledge).
