For women navigating life transitions, who are living life at a five when they know it can be a ten.

After a long game of tug of war, today I declared success! Eleven chapters done and just a little way to go before the book is complete.

I spoke to someone this week about how  I was living this book as I wrote it, and one of the most difficult things has been trying to preempt the finish.

"Patience young Padawan. The wizard is never late, she arrives when she arrives."

Alas it's finally safe to say, arrival is imminent... Yay!

"I'm in love with your guns"

Never thought I'd say that to another woman but I had to admit I had bicep envy 🤣

In a room full of speakers it's not ready to stand out but worked that room like a pro.

She was energetic, dynamic and funny, weaving in stories of courage and vulnerability with surprise and meaning.

As the host of the podcast it was a blast sharing a bit of time getting to know her human to human. If you haven't met Tiffanee find her and follow. She's one inspiring lady!

Yesterday I was a guest on a podcast with Tracy Tully and Catherine Molloy.

It's not a regular thing being asked to speak, although yesterday reminded me how much I want to share.

175 days ago, in persistent anxiety and mental distress, I took up the study of A Course in Miracles.

Within the first 7 days I had unprovoked and unexpected encounters and just as quickly as they had emerged, they fell away.

It didn't matter. The impact was a confirmation I was on the right path and needed to keep going.

90 days in and my mental and emotional state had changed dramatically.

But it wasn't until I shared some of the profound effects of this course on my life in yesterday's conversation, that I found a doorway back to you.

You've been on my mind ever since I went silent, but honestly I didn't know what value I could bring.

There are alot of coaches saying a lot of empty and meaningless things out there.

Things that don't make a fundamental difference to people's lives. I don't want to be one of them.

But today I felt compelled to share one of the most important lessons out of the course, and this is one that if you can master, can lead you back to peace...

Surrender your grievances.

Do you ever, in the middle of your routine walk....

Or as you sit preparing to be still...

Find instead that your mind has a mind of its own?

And without any effort from you, begins to fight with others in your mind?

Begins to relive old conversations?

Rehash old wounds?

Agitate grudges?

And have you ever gotten so caught up in those thoughts that you forgot where you were and why you were being still in the first place?

And then in sheer frustration found yourself turning your back on what you had set out to do for you, going back to the busyness of life, so you could escape your thoughts?

Lesson 68 in the course says

"...to hold a grievance is to forget who you are"

How true that is.

Today is an invitation to surrender your grievances and return home.

All my love.

Most mornings I'm out here picking spinach and parsley for my breakfast. Today I got a chorus out of the neighbor.

He's right nobody's going to break my style 😂

Perfectionism is a curse. A vein of the ego self. I have duped myself into thinking perfectionism was a way to keep me humble but now I see it's a handicap that means you never get out there.

I have so wanted to share my journey of the Artist's Way with you but instead perfectionism strangled my voice and took me hostage.

Week 7 of the Artist's Way is my relief.

In this week's reflection Cameron asks one simple question that opened the floodgates to what has been hidden from my view...

A question that when I took the time to answer filled a page with responses. A clear indication of how much perfectionism has limited my expression.

Cameron goes on to ask about jealousy.

Ha I don't consider myself a jealous person I marvel in self aggrandizement...

But then there's this person...

And that person....

And suddenly I've come crashing down from the peace of high and mighty and what relief.

Perfectionism is my kryptonite and I wonder if it's been yours?

The question that exposed it all?

"If I didn't have to do it perfectly, I would try..."

Today in response to this question I finally put paint on canvas and so it has begun... Again ☺️

Meet The Judge.

One of the voices of the inner critic. Hmmm

This week was the first week of Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way and as a result of the exercises in her book I learned that the voice of my inner critic has many personas, one of which is the Judge.

True to her name, the Judge, judges everything. She dishes out criticism like they're going out of fashion and finds fault with everything.

She's RELENTLESS and exhaustive. A curious one to watch.

And so it begins.

A beautiful conversation.

A chance recommendation for a book I know instantly I had to buy

And now we are here, leaning onto the artist's way.

What a beautiful manifestation

It never seems to reveal the way you expect it to.

The truck is not to be tempted to insert your projections there.

Allow the beautiful unfolding to occur as it must in the creative flow of the One

What if the only reason you’re not getting what you want…

…is because you never asked?

Not because you're lazy. Not because you're unworthy.

But because somewhere along the line, you were told not to ask.

🧠 Maybe you learned:
“Don’t ask, you won’t get.”
“Don’t want too much.”
“Don’t be a burden.”

And now? You’re waiting for life to offer you what you want instead of creating it from the inside, out!

🎯 Here’s the experiment:

Pick one thing you want in the next 30 days.

Ask for it out loud, in writing, or in action. Better yet use all three tools ... thoughts - words - deeds

Notice what voices try to shut you down (hello, inner critic).

Don’t take the bait.

Keep the channel open.

Start by changing your relationship to asking.

Have you ever mapped your life against the hero's journey?

The hero's journey is used in storytelling and by astute marketers who want to position themselves as a guide (because they've been through what you are going through and can help you navigate the path).

Meanwhile you (the hero) are on a glorious quest which begins when you decide to leave the ordinary world and face the challenges and trials that come with choosing the road less travelled.

On your journey, you may experience pain, heartache, you might be injured or led astray and always in some form there is a villain, who readily awaits to take you away from your path.

As the hero you always have choices to make.

The choice to continue your journey.

The choice to be derailed by the villain.

The choice to face the challenge.

And the choice to share your victory and 'save' others who may be enduring the same difficulties without a place to turn for hope, inspiration or answers.

At any given moment we can be living the different elements of the hero's journey at the same time.

In your relationship you are facing challenge,

In your job, you have come to an end and

In your business you are creating something new.

Each part of the process will lend itself to calling in different needs for you.

But to understand my life and to know where I am at any given moment, I have used the hero's journey to map and assess where I am right now, and what's coming for me next.

I've used it to identify the villains because they aren't always people (and sometimes, in fact often, have been found in my own head), other times their habits, nature, systems or society, technology, time a curse or fate.

And then there are guides, people, books, messages in songs or the gospel, dreams or visions, a synchronistic encounter or the sense of higher power.

Nothing screams balance like the hero's journey. The plight and call to adventure meets the struggle and fight for freedom and change. It's a poetic push-pull. And one that given the option to dive in and explore, can open up incredible opportunities we never saw before.

So how does your life compare? And where are you now on your glorious quest?

When you reflect on your own life and consider that each of the journey's you have travelled are represented by circles you may notice a sea of concentric and intersecting circles.

Some are complete circles, while others are half done.

Journeys you found your way to the end of and others you abandoned or were cut short.

At any given moment we can be living the different elements of the hero's journey at the same time.

In your relationship you are facing challenge,

Where are you now on your glorious quest?

And what adventure is calling to you?

I wonder if you'll go looking for who is behind THAT door?
