Why non clinical examples (often) win Interviews.

What do you think? Are Clinical examples a missed opportunity?

You’ve got to know your cards!

I’ve been talking all week about how and why this is key, with lots of ‘ahh haaaa’ moments🤯

Panel POV: If you work as a Consultant in ED, I already know you can run a Resus.. So what else have you got?

Hey, it’s me, the annoying little bird on your shoulder saying ‘Great story, so what?’ during your Interview

The ‘So what?’ is what takes a story from good to great in a response to a behavioural question.

When you share a story, always make clear:

✨ What does this mean?
✨ What did you learn?
✨ What skills/experience can you will bring to the role/position you are applying for, as a result of this experience?

Past behaviours are a great indicator of future performance, but the ‘so what’ makes it crystal clear for the panel

Humbled by this feedback, and also that this Doctor took the time to send it.

Feedback is so powerful - and it’s a great interview technique to speak about specific feedback you’ve received. Makes it ‘evidence based’ and is a much smoother way to try to tell the panel that you’re good at something.

For example:
👍 I’ve consistently received feedback that I strongly contribute to the team
👎 I’m a great team player
