Our upcoming Tricks & Rally Trial is calling and we’d love to see you and your dog in the ring!

Whether it’s your very first trial, your fiftieth, you're chasing a title or just fancy seeing what all the fuss is about - get those entries in and come join the fun!

Newbies are absolutely welcome. Experienced teams too. Basically, if you have a dog and a sense of adventure, we’re keen to see you there. 😄🐕

Entries are open so don’t leave it until Future You has to panic-enter at the last minute!

🐾 GDOC TRIAL IS AROUND THE CORNER 🐾

Time to practise like it’s the real thing! This Sunday, 3- 5pm: join us for Tricks, Rally & Agility practice, with competition-style runs, courses and the chance to put yourself (and your dog!) under a little friendly pressure before trial day.

We’ll be taking turns as handlers, spectators and judges, giving everyone the opportunity to practise working while people are watching and navigating those little nerves that somehow appear the second someone says, “You’re next!” 😅

This is a supportive practice afternoon - not about getting everything perfect. It’s about finding out what’s working, what needs another look, and getting both you and your dog more comfortable before stepping into the real thing.

And honestly, it’s much nicer to discover your brain has temporarily forgotten how to count signs now than when there’s an official judge holding a clipboard. 😂

Whether you’re preparing for the upcoming trial or just keen for some extra practice with your dog, come along!

What to bring:
🐾 Your dog crate
🦴 Plenty of high-value treats
🧸 A toy or favourite reward (non-squeaking)
💧 Water for both of you
🦮 Flat collar and lead
😊 A willingness to have a go - perfection can stay home

‼️🎉 50 YEARS OF GDOC 🎉‼️

We think that deserves more than a polite round of applause! 🥳

For 50 years, the Gladstone Dog Obedience Club has been bringing together people who have one very important thing in common: dogs. 🐾

Dogs who were wonderfully behaved… eventually.
Dogs who discovered dog sports and absolutely loved them.
Dogs who had their owners questioning all their life choices halfway through training. 😂

But GDOC has always been about more than teaching dogs to sit, stay and come when called. For five decades, this club has been a place for people in our community to learn, train, compete, volunteer, cheer each other on and find their fellow dog people. From the early days of obedience training through to the many dog sports and activities we enjoy today, generations of members and their dogs have helped shape the club into what it is now.

We think there’s something pretty special about a club that has survived changing times, changing dogs, changing sports - and probably a few thousand tangled leads - for half a century. ❤️

So we're getting together to celebrate!

50 years of dogs. 50 years of people. 50 years of community.

And hopefully, plenty more years of training, laughing, learning and finding out that no matter how long you've been doing this… dogs will always find new ways to keep us humble. 🐾😂
