GLaMS athletics 2026

Last Friday we hosted the GLaMS athletics day with our cluster school friends. We loved the sportsmanship and effort that was on display by students from all schools. Thanks to the staff and students from Lancaster, Merrigum, Stanhope and Girgarre PS, and to all the parents and families who came along to help, watch, cheer and participate. We had a wonderful day.

Girgarre residents and business owners, please be vigilant in locking up your belongings. We've been broken into twice in the last four nights. We have CCTV footage. The matter is with the police. So disappointed that people have targeted our little school.

Two of our students represented our school yesterday at the Lions Club Junior Public Speaking competition, hosted by St Pat's in Tongala. We are incredibly proud of these students for displaying our school values, as well as courage to speak in front of a large crowd. Matthew spoke about his dream holiday to the Gold Coast while our Year 5-6 representative spoke about having dinner with Elizabeth Macarthur, a member of the First Fleet who had a significant impact on the wool industry in Australia.
Matthew was the overall winner in the Grade 3-4 category and will now compete in Rochester next month. Congratulations to both students - respecting themselves, their learning and their school 👏

Happy Friday to us! Gargarro Botanic Gardens Cafe informed me yesterday that someone had left a tab of prepaid coffees at the cafe with our name on them. What a kind and generous thing to do 🥰. We don't know who you are but please know that we appreciate your kindness. I know that your thoughtful gesture has inspired me to 'pay it forward' too. What a caring and supportive community we have, and are so lucky to be part of 💕
