We are currently seeking a new Treasurer for our SHINE Board. If you have a background in accounting/finance, and are interested in supporting the strategic direction of a not-for -profit organisation that works to enhance the lives of girls and young women, we would love to hear from you!

We have a diverse Board with both local and metro based members, with broad and specialised experience across various sectors.

A great night at the WIBB Sundowner tonight with some of our amazing Shine team - (Sharna, Mickala and Jenna). Plus we brought along our new friend Thalia who recently opened TRY Wellness 🙏🏻 Thalia used to attend Mount Magnet District High School and was inspired by a Shimmer program which led her to become a beauty therapist - and an amazing one she is ✨️✨️

Congratulations to Wibbs who have also recently been awarded funding to further enhance opportunties for women in our region ❤️ Thanks to Lara Dalton MLA for supporting the application, and reminding us how important our stories are when shared amongst others. And Community Bank Geraldton you are an amazing team who continues to live up to your name - always seeking to support community.

A fun two days in Mount Magnet, not only with Shimmer and Shine, but the entire school and community! A kids vs adult basketball comp yesterday afternoon was the place to be 🙌🏼 Thanks to our friends at GSAC_ Mount Magnet and Carey Right Track for putting on a great game!

Yesterday our Shimmer girls at Mount Magnet District High School provided Naidoc Week face painting to students across the school, including the teeny tiny kindy kids. They are just too cute! 😍

Today our Year 9 Shine girls from Champion Bay Senior High School visited St Lawrences Primary School to provide face painting for the Year 1s and 2s for Naidoc Week!

We loved the questions they asked and how engaged they were in the process of dot painting. Our girls enjoyed every moment of their cuteness! 😍

We have been a little bit quiet on socials lately because we have been busy moving to our own office space. How cute is this place.. 😍

Our Shine admin team are now located on Francis Street. An Open Day will be announced soon! 🏠

A massive thank you to Community Bank Geraldton for their very kind donation of office furniture that they no longer have use for. We now have desks and chairs for our new Shine space ✨️🙏🏻

Our Shine team and some of our girls participated in the Wanarayimanha National Reconciliation Week Walk 2024 today 🖤💛❤

Proud of their strength and determination in seeking reconciliation and equality for their futures and the generations of girls that are to follow ✨️

Our GM Jenna has just spent the last two days in Mount Magnet delivering Shimmer and Shine programs whilst Zoe is away.

But we think Jenna and the girls may have been having a little bit too much fun 🤔😁💛✨️

Our gorgeous Mickala, SHINE alumni and facilitator, attended the State Budget Luncheon on behalf of SHINE earlier this week. And look who she ran into 😍..our previous CEO Bec!

Thank you to Lara Dalton MLA for the invitation to attend the State Budget Luncheon as your guest. This was a great opportunity for Mickala who is an amazing emerging woman of our region.

We have some exciting things in the works at SHINE including a nice new office ✨️

It's a big new space, so we will be opening it up as a collaborative space for our alumni, women in business, and initiatives that support women in our community. It will be a safe space with a purpose of 'Women Together'.

So we are on the hunt for furniture to fit out our new amazing space. If you are doing a clean out this weekend and have chairs, desks, tables, shelving that has a feminine/white/wood look to it, and you are willing to donate, please message us! We can collect this weekend.

✨️ We are so excited to welcome Michele Edwards to our Board ✨️

Michelle has been involved with SHINE since the beginning, as Hairdressing Lecturer at Central Regional TAFE. Her passion for education and commitment to empowering others led her to take on the role of Principal Lecturer. Currently, Michele serves as the Portfolio Manager of Health Education and the Community, where she continues to make a significant impact.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Michele has actively supported and participated in SHINE events and camps over the years. Her dedication to community engagement and education underscores her role as a member of our board.

During our time at Mount Magnet District High School we have built a working relationship with Carey Right Track. Pia from Carey Right Track has supported our girls in SHINE and Shimmer, and we all adore her ❤️

Our gorgeous Ketese has been part of SHINE since year 9, but this year, as she completes year 12 at Champion Bay Senior High School, Ketese wears a SHINE staff shirt ✨️

Ketese is completing Workplace Learning with SHINE and supports our facilitators each Thursday with program delivery.

Ketese is an asset to our program, her bubbly personality, experience, and kindness shines bright. We look forward to continuing to support Ketese through her career journey in community services beyond school life.

Our GM Jenna put on a SHINE shirt and took a trip inland to commence our Shimmer and Shine programs at Mount Magnet District High School today. The drive out there and home always entails a quick stop in Mullewa and Yalgoo - how can you not 💁🏼‍♀️🧡

We are looking forward to working with the Mount Magnet community, service providers and school who all share our purpose of enhancing the lives of girls and young women in regional and remote WA ✨️✨️

Having open and transparent conversations about bullying is crucial to building empathy and understanding, as the physical and emotional reactions, and short and long term effects, are different for everyone.

There are layers upon layers of feelings and emotions under the surface that can be triggered, which we don't often see or understand, and our girls have begun to explore this more deeply and share their views and experiences as individuals.

Jodie has been on the journey with SHINE since its inception. She has a wealth of wisdom, experience and knowledge that has enabled Shine to continue our work since 2010.

Jodie's passion and fierce determination to ensure our programs enhance the lives of girls and young women in our region every year is evident every single day.

Jodie radiates kindness and compassion wherever she goes, and we are so grateful to continue to have this strong beautiful soul on our SHINE team. ✨️✨️✨️

Last week SHINE students and staff suprised K**a with a Baby Shower 💜💟 K**a was also pampered with some self care and gorgeous handmade gifts that triggered some definite pregnancy tears 😍

We are all very much looking forward to meeting this little SHINE baby and we wish K**a all the best on this beautiful journey ️✨️
