A huge shout-out to our College Snowsports Team!
What a ride these students went on at the recently completed Snow Australia Interschools State Championships. A massive high five to Archie L, Atticus L, Bodhi M, Charlie C, Ernest M, Goldie B, Grace N-K, Harlow S, Julien B, Lucius L, Mackenzie M, Rose M, Silas L, Willa B, Will P, Zara G and Zoe K for braving the cold conditions and taking a no-fear attitude onto the slopes at Mount Buller. There were some outstanding results – including a group of students advancing to the National Titles. Mackenzie M (Highton) and Rose M (Surf Coast) combined to win Silver in the ‘Ski Slopestyle’ Team Event, and Bronze in the ‘Moguls’ Team Event. Another star of the show was Will P (Senior School), who has made it through to the Australian Championships for both the ‘Snowboard Cross’ and the ‘Cross Country’ Individual Events. Ernie M and Rose M also qualified for the National Championships for Cross Country. A fantastic effort by all, and a big thank you to all staff and parents who assist with our CCG Eagles Snowsports team.

Seeking work experience opportunities
A number of senior CCG students are keen to explore careers in trades, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical or other trade-based work. We are seeking assistance from local businesses who may be able to offer work experience opportunities for them. This will help our students demonstrate their strong work ethic, practical skills and interest in a trade, gain valuable insight into the day-to-day work involved, confirm their chosen trade is their right career pathway, build contacts and connections within their chosen industry, and explore apprenticeship possibilities with an employer in the future. CCG students exceed the state and national average in Naplan results in all year levels tested!

Strong foundations, sustained excellence: Achievement remains above state and national benchmarks across all year levels, with standout performance in Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

Great skills on display at TOM…
Well done to our teams of Year 5 and 6 students from Bellarine, Highton and Surf Coast campuses who competed in Tournament of Minds last weekend. Our CCG students displayed very impressive teamwork, imagination and technological skills as they creatively collaborated, problem-solved and had a whole lot fun in the process!

Alexis is off to Argentina wearing green and gold!
Congratulations to CCG alumna Alexis Jane (Class of 2024) who has been selected to represent Australia in the World Kayaking Championships in Argentina in October. It’s been something of a meteoric rise for Alexis – she will compete in the 21.8km kayak marathon at the World Champs., after having only competed twice in that event before. But her performance at the Australian Nationals where she finished second in the marathon, was enough to propel her to the world stage. A week to highlight inclusion and connection
Bullying No Way Week, a national initiative about creating safe, inclusive and connected school communities, was marked last week at CCG in various ways across our campuses. Students participated in a range of discussions and activities during Homeroom and splashes of purple appeared everywhere – from hair ribbons and colourful leis to cupcake icing! Year 8 students led initiatives at their campuses, sharing theory and practical activities with younger year levels to bring this year’s theme, Small Acts, Big Impact to life. That’s about understanding that meaningful, positive change often begins with simple actions…showing kindness, standing up for others or offering support – they can all make a big difference to someone’s sense of belonging and wellbeing. The focus of the week allowed students and staff to talk about and reflect on how we as individuals can all contribute to a community where everyone is celebrated, and bullying is never accepted.

Our first ever Annual Junior Music Evening!
The year marks a new first for CCG, with two Annual Music Evenings on the calendar. The first was last Thursday – an evening dedicated to providing opportunity for the College’s youngest ensemble musicians to shine. And what a fantastic celebration of music and performance it was! Junior Strings and Choirs from Belmont, Bellarine and Surf Coast campuses took the stage and wowed the audience. Aspects of the whole school music journey were also highlighted on the night, with short movie presentations featuring this year’s Godspell production and Senior School musicians performing in Melbourne. With senior students, Jack, Mia, Winnie and Thomas compering the evening, the audience also enjoyed performances on stage by the Combined Middle School Strings, the Senior School Choir and a trumpet solo by Thomas. Congratulations and thank you to all junior musicians who performed so beautifully, to the senior musicians who were part of the night, and to all our music staff and events team, for a memorable night of music!

Snapshots of Science Week…
So much Science to fit into a week! From an early start last week at Surf Coast Campus to Bellarine Preps travelling to Junior School-Belmont to explore push, pull, gravity and friction forces through a Toys in Motion investigation – and lots more in between. Among a swathe of fun activities, the Belmont campus’ Science Expo was a bit hit (check out the video in today's Vine newsletter 🙂)…Year 2s dropped in on a Year 10 Science class at Senior School; Highton campus students had great fun working hydraulic robotic arms demonstrated by a special guest from Deakin University Engineering; they also staged a WWF sausage sizzle that raised over $400 and contested a lunchtime Science quiz for house points. Year 2s at Surf Coast enjoyed making playdough, watching skittles dissolve, investigating the salt and ice challenge and marveled at dancing raisins. And at Bellarine Campus, Years 1 to 6 embraced the Week's theme 'Seeds of Science, Nurturing Knowledge for All' and planted and cared for their own alfalfa seedlings. Just a glimpse of how Science stole the spotlight over recent days at CCG!

Now for the Japanese news…
Congratulations to Year 10 students Harrison, Eva and Sean who have been selected to participate in the four-month Long-Term Exchange Program. They will attend our sister school, Naga HS in Iwade and homestay with Japanese families. Meanwhile Hiyori, who is on Long-Term Exchange with us from Naga HS has enjoyed her time thus far, sharing with host families from Highton and Bellarine campuses, which has provided valuable opportunities to form friendships, be immersed in Australian culture, improve her language skills and create forever memories. She is in Australia until Christmas this year. Finally, a fond farewell to Saki, a 2025 Naga HS graduate, who finished last week as a participant in the Language Assistant Program. We are grateful for all her hard work, enthusiasm and many positive contributions to our Japanese program. We now welcome another Naga graduate, Mitoki, as our new Language Assistant.

Outstanding CCG performance at GISSA Aths Championships
Well done to our CCG athletes yesterday who competed at the GISSA Athletics Championships. Every one of our competitors represented the College with pride and gave their very best. CCG finished second overall, with our Senior Boys winning their age group on the day! To all our athletes and staff – congratulations on a great day’s work, we applaud your achievements!
