Do you have fond memories of any of these people? What would you like to do if you came back to work at Newcomb? We always like remembering the people who have walked into (and then out of) our school doors.

Something that used to only be the domain of primary schools, the fun has filtered up to the secondary folks! Thanks to Ingrid Marshall (our librarian, alumna and former alumni co-ordinator) for all her work in promoting reading in our school.

Throwback Thursday!
In the theme of Scott being our latest principal, here is a photo of Newcomb High School's first ever staff. Second from the left is principal Leon Touzel, our first ever principal.

Were you at Newcomb when these lovely people worked here?

Today is "Where are they now" Wednesday (and a way for me to introduce you to the current Newcomb SC leadership team).

Scott McLeod was a student at Newcomb from 1991 (year 8 ) to 1995 (Year 12). He went on to study teaching, specialising in PE and Maths. Having worked at other local schools, most recently Grovedale SC, he was appointed Assistant Principal at Newcomb just before the pandemic hit (Timing!), and in 2023 was appointed our 6th Principal!

Scott is now in the comfy office and has a focus on consistency with our students in regards to our school values - Learning, Respect and Working Together.

Many staff at the school at the moment are ex-students in both teaching and non-teaching roles. It is great that people feel comfortable enough to return to the school and bring with them newly found skills and experience.

Hi everyone

A little while since our last post and we have a change of contact person for the Alumni group now. Thanks to Ingrid Marshall who has been our contact for the beginning of 2024.

Our new contact is Sue McArthur (yes, Ms Mac...) and I am happy to take this on as I probably remember you if you have been in the school since 1989!

We will be looking at growing our group to have more people we can invite to come and speak to our current students, possibly help our students out with work placement or just keep in touch and let us know all that you are contributing to this big, wide world.

Welcome to our Newcomb Secondary College Alumni Community!
Newcomb Secondary College (formerly Newcomb High School) has a proud history spanning more than 50 years. Many students have passed through these gates since 1969.
We’re keen to find Newcomb alumni studying or working in a wide variety of areas to invite them back to school to speak to our current students about their career pathways and give them practical tips about study and work.
Some alumni might even be able to offer a work experience placement to a current student.
Your experiences can help motivate students and open their eyes to opportunities they might never have thought of. We often have small panels of former students presenting from certain industries or have a guest speaker in to work with students who are particularly keen on a certain occupation eg. defence forces, marine biology/teaching/hairdressing/accounting/joinery/electrician/
hospitality etc.
