Happy Father's Day!

Today, we celebrate all the wonderful dads, grandads, stepdads, uncles, carers, and special people who make a difference in our students' lives every day.

Our students have shared some very special messages to say thank you for the love, support, guidance, and encouragement they receive. We hope this video brings a smile to your face and reminds you just how much you are appreciated.

From everyone at Forest Primary we wish you a happy and memorable Father's Day.

🌟 Friday Learning Looks a Little Different in 3/4 Ollington! 🌟

Over the past few weeks, Fridays in our classroom have been transformed! Each week we have immersed ourselves in a different theme, giving students the opportunity to apply their learning in meaningful, hands-on and engaging ways.

The purpose behind our themed Fridays is much more than simply having fun. Each theme brings together literacy, numeracy, communication, problem-solving, creativity and teamwork, allowing students to use the skills we have been developing throughout the week in a real-life context.

πŸ•΅οΈ Week 1 – Secret Agent Academy
Our classroom became a secret agent training academy! Students worked through missions, clues and challenges with a strong Mathematics focus on angles and spatial reasoning. Literacy was woven throughout the day through reading, Reader’s Theatre, following instructions, interpreting clues, speaking and listening, and using comprehension skills to solve the mystery. Students had to collaborate, think critically and use evidence to make decisions before our final reveal!

β˜• Week 2 – 3/4 CafΓ© & Baristas
The following Friday, our classroom became a cafΓ©! Alongside our learning around money, decimals, time and measurement, students created menus, worked with prices and completed cafΓ©-themed literacy and numeracy tasks. They also had the opportunity to learn some real-life barista skills! Students took coffee orders from staff, practised listening carefully and repeating orders back for accuracy, followed instructions and then made and delivered staff coffees. Of course, they also loved making their own cafΓ© hot chocolates! This was a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, independence, communication and real-world life skills.

πŸŽͺ Week 3 – Carnival Day
Most recently, students became the creators of their very own carnival! They worked together to plan, design and run carnival activities, applying their learning through authentic problems and tasks. Literacy, Mathematics, creativity, organisation, teamwork and communication all came together as students turned their ideas into a real carnival event and recorded data linking to pretend money, and event results!

These Fridays allow students to see that the skills we learn in the classroom don’t exist separately, reading, writing and maths are tools we use every day to communicate, create, solve problems and work with others.

There is always lots of excitement when Friday rolls around, but underneath all that fun is some incredibly rich learning. We can’t wait to see what our classroom transforms into next Friday! πŸŒŸπŸ“š
