Year 9 recently took part in a meaningful Character Formation Incursion as part of our EmpowerED Program.

Our boys worked with facilitators from The Man Cave, while our girls participated in workshops led by Dannielle Miller from Enlighten Education. Through engaging, age-appropriate sessions, students explored themes of relationships, respect, positive self-image and personal growth in supportive and safe environments.

We thank our wonderful facilitators and the Year 9 EmpowerED teachers for making the day such a valuable experience for our students, who thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn, reflect and connect.

Rosebank was delighted to welcome students from across Sydney for our annual Ethical Explorations Day, bringing together young people passionate about critical thinking, ethical inquiry and meaningful dialogue.

This year's focus explored the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI). Through Community of Inquiry discussions and collaborative challenges, students examined concepts of truth, lies and misinformation before imagining and presenting future societies where humans and AI coexist.
Representing Rosebank were students from our Year 9 and 10 iThink classes, who demonstrated outstanding creativity, collaboration and critical thinking throughout the day.

A highlight of the event was the opportunity for students to engage with complex contemporary issues, challenge perspectives and learn from like-minded peers from other schools.

As Year 10 student Tyson H reflected:

"Community of Inquiry allows the expression of individuality and opinion whilst still promoting understanding and cohesion between all the attending schools. Overall, we learnt many unique points of view as well as honing our critical thinking skills to discern between our human and AI sources."

Thank you to all students, staff and participating schools for contributing to a day of thoughtful discussion, curiosity and ethical exploration.

Parents and students attended our Term 2 Parent Engagement Gathering this week for an insightful session on "How Students Learn Best… (and What Actually Works)."

Led by our Dean of Learning, Dorian Kipriotis, the presentation explored practical, evidence-based strategies that help students build effective learning habits, improve retention, and achieve academic success. Families gained valuable insights into what the research tells us about learning and how these strategies can be applied both at school and at home.

It was wonderful to see so many parents and students engaging in the conversation and demonstrating their shared commitment to learning and growth.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this highly informative evening.

Last night, the Benedict Auditorium was filled with the sounds of Music Through the Decades as more than 150 talented Rosebank musicians took to the stage for our annual Music Ensembles Showcase.

From orchestra, choir and strings to concert band, jazz and rock ensembles, audiences were treated to an outstanding evening celebrating the passion, dedication and creativity of our students. The showcase highlighted the incredible breadth of musical talent across the College and the power of music to connect generations.

A special acknowledgement to our Year 12 musicians, who performed in their final Showcase. Thank you for the commitment, leadership and enthusiasm you have brought to Rosebank and CAPA throughout your journey. Your contributions have enriched our community and your legacy will continue to inspire future generations of performers.

Congratulations to all students and staff who made the evening such a memorable celebration of music.

To mark National Reconciliation Week, our Rosebank community has embraced this year's theme, All In, through learning, listening, reflection and action.

Throughout the week, students and staff engaged in a range of meaningful opportunities that deepened our understanding of reconciliation and celebrated the voices, stories and cultures of First Nations peoples. From daily prayers and classroom conversations to visual displays, commemorative services and educational experiences, the week invited us all to reflect on our shared responsibility in the journey towards reconciliation.

A highlight of the week was welcoming back Brooke Prentis, an Aboriginal Christian Leader, Aboriginal & Education Consultant, Keynote Speaker and Company Director with a vision to build an Australia founded on Truth, Justice, Love and Hope. Brooke generously shared her personal reconciliation journey, offering insights into First Nations culture, faith and the importance of truth-telling, deep listening and authentic relationships.

Brooke also facilitated a special session with our Year 7 students connected to their study of Inheritance, helping them explore themes of identity, belonging, justice, prejudice and reconciliation. Through thoughtful discussion, students reflected on the importance of empathy, truth-telling and listening to First Nations voices and stories, recognising that reconciliation is both a shared responsibility and an ongoing journey for all Australians.

As a Good Samaritan and Benedictine school, we are called to walk alongside one another with compassion, respect and courage. Reconciliation Week reminds us that reconciliation is not confined to a single week; it is an ongoing commitment to understanding, justice and healing.

Thank you to our RAP Committee, staff, students and guests who contributed to making this week such a meaningful experience.

Together, we remain All In for reconciliation.

On Tuesday, 5 May, our Year 7 students attended their first Rosebank Reflection Day, exploring the theme “Bounce Back”. Through fun and engaging activities, students unpacked important messages around resilience, perspective, self-awareness and seeking support when needed.

The day also saw selected Year 9 students assist in leading activities, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our newest students.

Reflection Days provide valuable opportunities for students to explore age-appropriate issues that support their emotional, social and spiritual growth. We thank our House Coordinators, Mrs Harris, Mrs Henderson, Ms Azzi and Ms Marano for facilitating such a meaningful day.
