Today is Wear It Purple Day and this year's theme is Colours of Courage.
Colours of Courage honours the many forms of bravery, shown every day, by LGBTQIA+ young people, allies and communities. Courage isn't only found in the big moments, but also in the everyday choices to live proudly, stand beside someone and invite others into understanding, acceptance and celebration.
Students who feel safe and connected at school are more able to thrive. As teachers, we have the privilege and responsibility to create safe, supportive and inclusive environments for every young person. By wearing purple today, we're showing those young people that they are celebrated, respected and free to be who they are now and who they are becoming.
Today and every day, we stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ students and colleagues.

“Australia’s inflation problem is painful and persistent and it won’t truly improve until we address its root cause: privatisation.”

“Every single item eating away at household budgets was once a public good made available by government for free or at affordable rates. Or it’s a privatised service operating alongside struggling universal public options like schools and Medicare.”

“But the only long-term structural solution is public provision. We must repair the “leaks” created through underfunding and limiting expansion of our universal public education and Medicare systems.”
“This means weaning privatised parallel systems off the public teat.”
