๐ŸŒบ Remembering the Battle for Australia

Weโ€™re proud to have a strong connection with Defence families in our school community and to be able to recognise the service of those who have served our country.

Our Year 8 students recently attended the Battle for Australia Commemoration Service, learning more about the South and South West Pacific campaigns of 1942โ€“1945 and reflecting on the experiences and sacrifices of those who served.

It was also a chance to acknowledge our deep respect for all veterans and serving members of the Australian Defence Force, across every campaign and generation.

Thank you to our Defence School Mentor, Ms Abbey, for the support she provides to our Defence students and families, and to Year 8 Head of Year and History teacher Mr Kyranides for supporting our students to engage with this important part of our history.

๐Ÿพ Panthers Take on Brisbane's Best.

Earlier this term, our Year 10 and 11 students proudly represented Everton Park SHS at the Brisbane Secondary All Schools Touch Football Championships for the very first time.

Competing against schools from across the region, our Panthers demonstrated resilience, determination and outstanding team spirit throughout the carnival. From hard-fought games and exciting wins to overcoming injuries and challenges, the team never stopped supporting one another and representing Everton Park SHS with pride.

By the final day, the team was down to just nine players but still finished the carnival with a fantastic win over a strong Southside rival.

A BIG congratulations to all of our Touch Football players on an outstanding first appearance at the championships. We can't wait to see what next year brings.

Let's Go Panthers. ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’ค Pyjama Day Reminder ๐Ÿ’ค

Don't forget... Pyjama Day is tomorrow.

For a gold coin donation, students are invited to wear sun-safe, school-appropriate pyjamas (with closed-in shoes) for the day.

This fun event has been championed by our Year 9 Leaders and is raising funds for the PJ Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports young people in care through one-on-one mentoring opportunities.

Students attending the Champion House excursion can also wear their comfy PJs, but please remember to bring a hat and suitable walking shoes.

Let's get behind this fun and worthwhile cause as we wrap up the term.

๐ŸŽญ A Special Thank You to Everyone Behind the Scenes.
Seven Months. Countless Hours. One Amazing Production.

Productions like The Addams Family Young@Partโ„ข don't happen overnight.

Over the past seven months, students, staff and volunteers have dedicated countless hours to rehearsals, choreography, music, costumes, set construction, technical production and planning to bring this year's performance to the stage.

Behind every scene change, costume alteration, lighting cue and musical number was an incredible team of people working together towards a shared goal.

To our cast, crew, orchestra, production team, staff, volunteers and families, thank you for your commitment, patience and support throughout this journey.

The final performances may have lasted only two evenings, but the memories, friendships and skills developed along the way will last much longer.

Thank you for helping create something truly special. ๐ŸŽญ

๐Ÿฅพ Adventure Awaits.

Over the past few weeks, our Duke of Edinburgh students have been putting their skills, resilience and teamwork to the test on their Qualifying Adventurous Journeys.

From hiking at Barambah Environmental Education Centre to canoeing across Lake Somerset with Stanley River Environmental Education Centre, students embraced new challenges, explored the outdoors, made new friendships and created memories that will last a lifetime.

๐Ÿšด Looking ahead to 2027, students entering Year 10 and above are encouraged to get involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Program, with next year's Silver Adventurous Journey set to include a multi-day cycling adventure along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, speak to Mrs Flinders or come along to Duke of Edinburgh Club every Thursday at second break in G4.

๐Ÿ Volleyball: Training, Competing and Representing EPSHS ๐Ÿ

Our students recently took to the court against Albany Creek SHS in a friendly round-robin volleyball tournament.

It was great to see students put their training into action, get plenty of game time and represent EPSHS with enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship. ๐Ÿ‘

We have a great volleyball program at EPSHS, with students training across multiple mornings each week and building their skills through regular opportunities to play and compete.

Thanks to Albany Creek SHS for hosting us. We look forward to more opportunities for our students to get on the court, compete and represent our school. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐ŸŽญ Creativity was on full display at MADD Day!

Our Year 4 visitors had a fantastic opportunity to โ€˜Experience Possibilityโ€™ at Everton Park SHS, exploring Music, Arts, Dance and Drama (MADD) alongside our talented senior Arts students and our exceptional specialist Arts Teachers.

They created, performed, and collaborated while developing their artistic skills. It was a great way to explore the many ways students can build creativity, confidence and performance skills at EP.

A special highlight was a sneak peek of our school musical, The Addams Family, prior to opening night this Friday 11 September.

Our visitors left with smiles, artworks of their own and a glimpse of the opportunities waiting for them to develop their artistic skills at EP!
