Sometimes it’s good to just grab a pen and note pad - let go and immerse yourself in the simplicity of line work and as it runs across the page and you exhale.

Standing Still

This piece reflects a sense of inner steadiness — holding yourself together, even when things feel chaotic beneath the surface.

Created intuitively with water-mixable oils on A4 watercolour paper.

“Held”
40 x 50 cm
Acrylic on stretched canvas in floating timber frame

Held in the valleys,
held on the mountain top,
and held in the seasons in between.

I am loved.
I am held.

The Dance Between
30 x 30 cm | Acrylic and metallic gold on canvas

I began this piece feeling unsettled and chose to paint instead.

There’s always an awkward middle in art — and in relationships. I’ve learned not to stop there.

These blooms feel like they’re leaning toward one another, finding rhythm again. Looser and more instinctive than my usual work, layered with pink, blue undertones and metallic gold detail.

Sometimes connection isn’t dramatic.
Sometimes it’s simply the dance between.

A small milestone to share — you may not know that I returned to study mid last year and am now in the final stretch of completing my Master of Counselling.
As part of this final stage, I’m required to complete supervised counselling hours for both my practicum and de-identified case study work. To support this, I’m offering a limited number of short-term, free individual counselling sessions over the coming months.
If you feel you might benefit from some support, or know someone who might, you’re very welcome to message me privately.
All sessions are conducted professionally, are confidential, and are supported by clinical supervision as part of my course requirements.
Sessions will be held via Zoom and are available for adults and young people.
There’s absolutely no pressure — I’m simply extending the offer while I complete this final component.
The end is in sight.

One colour. One word. Then go.

A gentle art prompt I used in session today.

We began by selecting a colour you’re drawn to, then choosing a single word that captures what that colour evokes. From there, that confined rectangle becomes a space to let go — layering colour, mark-making and mixed media without overthinking.

We then reversed the process: starting with a word, choosing a colour to match, and allowing meaning to unfold naturally in the following space.

Sometimes therapy doesn’t need more talking.
Sometimes it just needs space to create, notice and breathe.

I often paint alongside clients during sessions. Sitting together, letting go and gently chatting while we create can be a powerful way to support regulation, expression, understanding, processing and connection.

Grateful for this week off study and the time to tend to our laundry and make it feel a little more life-giving.
And knowing I’ve found my person when he asks what I’m doing with my down time and I just say…
“Well, you know the laundry.” 🧺🌱🥰

Jenna first came to paint with me when she was 8 years old.

For years, we learned side by side — colour, layers, patience, and trusting your own eye.

Two years ago, I relocated, and our regular sessions came to an end.

Now 15, she travelled to come and paint with me again. Watching her return to the canvas — calm, confident, and deeply present — was incredibly special.

What you see here isn’t just progress. It’s continuity. It’s what happens when creativity is nurtured slowly, respectfully, and allowed to grow.

I’m so proud of the artist she’s becoming 🤍

At the end of last year, I purchased an inexpensive daily diary. It only cost a few dollars and isn’t even art paper, just a regular A5 diary with the day and dates on the pages! You see, I decided for my own wellbeing, to commit to creative journaling for the whole of 2025 with the theme of positivity and gratefulness. I wanted to see if this would help me maintain a positive outlook in my life. This would be different to thinking about what I’m grateful for and noting it down - I wanted to creatively express what I was grateful for each day, or an inspiring positive outlook, allowing myself to marinade in this positive state rather than quickly passing through it. I’m sharing this post and some of the less personal pages in the hope of inspiring others - as I honestly have been so blessed from this new practice. The biggest changes for me have been; I have found myself thinking positively more quickly than before during challenging moments, I have experienced more peace from spending alone time to complete journal entries, I haven’t been using my devices as much which means my screen time has dramatically decreased and I have been feeling happier throughout the day as ideas pop into my mind to journal about…furthermore working as a school counsellor, I can show students I work with my journaling as an example of self are and talk about the mental health benefits it can help cultivate!
I use all different mediums for my journal - it doesn’t need to be complicated or perfect!

So are you creative? Do you want to focus on positivity and self-care? If so, why not try a daily creative journal? Ideas are everywhere if you don’t know how to start…a simple online search always can help…so what are you waiting for? I believe you will experience some great benefits too if you commit and get started!
