⭐️Public Speaking⭐️

The Heathcote East PS Public Speaking finals were held today and we were so impressed by the standard.

We think it’s fabulous that these finals were held during ‘Literacy and Numeracy Week’!

Well done to all of our finalists who represented their class and stage. Every single speaker presented their prepared speech with confidence and gave their absolute best with the impromptu speeches. To be selected to represent their class is a wonderful achievement and they should be very proud.

A huge congratulations to our winners for each stage, who will be presented with their official certificates at the next whole school assembly.

Best of luck to these stage representatives who will present their speeches at the network finals later this term.

🌟✨ AND JUST LIKE THAT… THAT’S A WRAP! ✨🌟

After four sold-out shows, our incredible Southern Stars 2026 – Take Flight journey has officially come to an end! ✈️💃🎭

After countless hours of rehearsals, learning and relearning choreography, formation changes, early mornings, late nights, lots of waiting in tunnels and new friendships formed along the way, we can finally rest! 😴🌟

Our HEPS senior dancers are to be commended for the hard work, dedication, resilience and enthusiasm they have shown throughout this entire journey. They stepped onto that arena floor and gave it their all every single time. We could not be prouder of them.

Southern Stars is so much more than the performances themselves. It is the rehearsals, friendships, teamwork, commitment, responsibility, excitement and memories created along the way. This is an experience we hope our dancers will remember for many years to come. ❤️

A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and carers for supporting the girls throughout the entire journey. Thank you for getting them to countless rehearsals and performances on time, organising costumes, hair and makeup, navigating traffic and road closures, surviving the early mornings and late nights and making sure they were always ready to perform. We couldn't have done it without you! 🌟

And there is something extra special about Saturday night backstage! 🎉

Before the final performance, we were treated to our very own private performance from the NSW Public Schools Millennium Marching Band 🥁🎺

Then, of course, there was the organised chaos, excitement and the much-anticipated annual backstage dance party before taking to the arena floor one final time! 💃🎶🥳

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Meadows, Mrs Shapter, Mr Crawford and Myah for giving up their time to support our dancers and our school. It’s always a huge ask to take time away from families but it’s certainly worth it.

To our dancers – be incredibly proud of what you have achieved. You worked hard, supported one another, made memories and absolutely shone! 🌟

It’s Book Week! Whilst we love books at HEPS and are always encouraging reading we don’t celebrate book week now, we wait till Term 4 and have our annual Book Character Parade and celebration of all things books with Grandparents day! But as a public service announcement keep your eyes peeled on social media this week for all the great costumes that pop up for book week to make planning easy next term.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, our choir and Junior dancers truly made our school shine. The choir captivated the audience with a fantastic performance of beloved songs such as "Waltzing Matilda," "We Are Family," and "We're All In This Together." A special shout-out goes to our four nurses—Olivia, Violet, Mila, and Scout—and our soldiers, Baz and Remy, who helped bring "The Spirit of the Anzacs" to life. Meanwhile, the Junior dancers gave an energetic performance to "Dig a Little Deeper," their beaming smiles and enthusiasm both on and off the stage said it all!
