Virtual Sparring combines real Taekwondo movements with interactive technology, allowing athletes to kick, move, defend and compete against an opponent in an exciting virtual environment!

It is fast, competitive and requires many of the same skills used in traditional sparring—including speed, accuracy, timing, reactions, footwork and strategy.

We are excited to see how this new form of competition continues to develop!

Last week, our Taekwondo and Gumdo students took part in their gradings and proudly earned their promotions.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, discipline and determination demonstrated by every student. Your promotions reflect the consistent effort and dedication you have shown throughout your training.

Congratulations to everyone who graded and achieved their next rank! Continue challenging yourselves, keep training hard and wear your new belts with pride. 👏🎉

Mason delivered an excellent performance at his very first International Championship!

In Virtual Sparring, Mason won an impressive three fights before narrowly missing out in the quarterfinals. He also competed confidently in the Poomsae division, which featured 36 talented competitors competing for the gold, silver and bronze medals.
Mason then participated in the Pair Poomsae Carnival event, where he secured third place and a bronze medal! 🥉

This was a massive international event featuring approximately 2,800 participants across 13 courts, with an extremely high standard of competition.

Congratulations to Mason, Mr Steffan, our Team Manager, and Grandmaster Ryan, the Head of Team and Mason’s coach, for their dedication and hard work throughout two long and tiring days of competition.

An excellent performance and a fantastic achievement for a first-time international competitor! We are incredibly proud of you, Mason! 👏🔥

Last weekend, SMART Martial Arts proudly sent three of our members to compete at the State Championships.
🥇🥈 Master Jason – Gold in Poomsae and Silver in Sparring
🥉 Sofia – Bronze in Sparring
🥉 Aryana – Bronze in Sparring
Master Jason also contributed to the event by officiating as both a Poomsae and Sparring Referee, while Master Vidu officiated as a Poomsae Referee.
Congratulations to all three competitors on their fantastic results and to both referees for representing SMART Martial Arts with pride! 👏

🌏 Smart Martial Arts Goes International! 🇦🇺🇲🇾

We are proud to announce that this year, 2026 that Mason Liam Hoeer will become the first athlete from Smart Martial Arts Australia to compete in Virtual Sparring and Poomsae at an international championship, Malaysia! 🥋

The championship will take place from 17–19 July 2026 in Penang, Malaysia.

Our Australian team will be supported by:
🇦🇺 Mr Steffan – Team Manager
🥋 Grand Master Ryan Rajendran – Head of Team and Coach

Grand Master Ryan will lead Smart Martial Arts Australia as we proudly participate in our first international event of 2026.
We wish Mason and the entire team the very best as they represent Smart Martial Arts, Western Australia and Australia on the international stage! 💪🏆
