NOTICE OF UPCOMING P&C MEETING

All parents and community members are invited to attend the upcoming El Arish State School P&C Meeting.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to hear an update on the community weather-station project, ask questions and contribute to the discussion about the project and its associated funds.

Date: Monday 31 August 2026
Time: 3:00 pm
Location: Art Room, El Arish State School

The agenda is currently being finalised and will be sent to all P&C members before the meeting.

Formal decisions will be made by eligible P&C members in accordance with the Association’s governing requirements.

❄️ Cold night in El Arish!
Our community weather station clocked a chilly one overnight. Temps dropped below 12°C at 10:20pm last night and stayed there for a full 9 hours, bottoming out at 10.46°C around 4am.
Then the sun came up and things changed fast, from 11.9°C at 7:20am to a toasty 22.8°C by 10am. That's a 12-degree jump in under 3 hours! ☀️
Overnight avg: 12.79°C | Overnight low: 10.46°C | Morning high (so far): 22.83°C

What has our weather station taught us so far? ☁️🌦️
Since the El Arish Community Weather Station came online on 31 January 2026, it's quietly been recording our corner of the Cassowary Coast, one reading at a time. Six months in, here's the story the data tells:
🌧️ 168 days of weather recorded - 112 rainy days, 55 dry
💧 1,885.6 mm of rain captured so far
☔ Wettest day: 119.6 mm on 29 March - that late-wet-season deluge many of us remember
🔥 Hottest reading: 36.08°C on 13 February
🥶 Coldest reading: 16.31°C on 21 May
🍂 Longest dry spell: 19 days straight from 19 May
📊 Average temperature: 26.7°C across the whole period
