🌟 My Say My Way Survey 2026
Every student deserves a voice and every voice deserves to be heard. πŸ’™πŸ’›

My Say My Way provides an accessible way for students with disability to share their experiences of school. We’re proud to celebrate what they told us and use their voices to keep building a school where every student can learn, belong and thrive.

Our families are an important part of the Prairievale story. The 2026 Parent Survey gave our community the opportunity to tell us what’s working, what matters and how we can continue making our school even stronger. Here’s what our families told us!

πŸ’™πŸ’› CELEBRATING OUR AMAZING SASS STAFF! πŸ’›πŸ’™

This week is SASS Appreciation Week, a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible School Administrative and Support Staff who play such an important role in our school every single day.

Our SASS team includes the wonderful people working across our classrooms, playgrounds, learning spaces and administration who support our students, families and staff in so many different ways.

They support students with their learning and wellbeing, provide additional care and assistance when it is needed, help our teachers in classrooms, keep important school systems running, organise resources, support programs and events, communicate with families, translate information and quietly solve a hundred little problems behind the scenes before most of us even know they existed!

At Prairievale, our SASS staff play an important role in helping families feel welcomed, understood and connected to our school. Whether it is supporting a child in the classroom, helping with SchoolBytes, explaining a note, translating information for a family or simply helping someone find the right person to speak to, they are there to support our school community. πŸ’™

While their roles may be different, their impact is felt across every part of our school.

SASS Appreciation Week gives us the opportunity to stop and recognise the care, patience, dedication and hard work they bring to Prairievale each and every day.

To our incredible SASS team- thank you for everything you do for our students, our families, our staff and our wider community.

Prairievale simply wouldn’t be the same without you.

🌟 Happy SASS Appreciation Week! 🌟

If you see one of our wonderful SASS staff around the school this week, make sure you give them an extra big smile or a thank you! πŸ’™πŸ’›

🌟 THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AT PRAIRIEVALE! 🌟

At Prairievale Public School, learning and belonging extend well beyond the classroom. We want every student to have opportunities to find their interests, build friendships, develop new skills and feel connected to our school. πŸ’™πŸ’›

That’s why we’re incredibly proud of the range of FREE social support and extracurricular programs available across the week!

β™ŸοΈ Love a challenge? Join Chess Club, Lego Club or Computer Club.
🌱 Like getting hands-on? There’s Gardening Club and Cooking Club.

🎨 Looking for somewhere to connect at lunch? Come along to SPLAT in Area D.
πŸ₯ͺ Need a great start to the day? Our Morning Club and Breakfast Club are here too!
πŸ›οΈ Plus, students can get involved with PrairieShop Ordering and more!

With programs running before school, at recess and at lunch from Monday to Friday, there are so many ways for students to get involved.

And the best part? These opportunities are available right here at school, supporting our students to build confidence, friendships, creativity, resilience and a stronger sense of belonging.

πŸ‘ A huge thank you to our wonderful staff who give their time, talents and energy to make these opportunities possible for our students.

At Prairievale, school is about more than what happens in the classroom. It’s about giving children opportunities to discover what they love, have a go and find their place.

⭐ Something for everyone, every day!

πŸ’‘ THE PRINCIPAL’S BIG IDEA – OUR STUDENTS & COMMUNITY HAVE SPOKEN! πŸ’‘

What an incredible way to finish Education Week! Earlier this week, every class was challenged with one BIG question:

β€œHow can we make Prairievale even better?”

Today, representatives from each class had the opportunity to present their Big Ideas to the Principal and they certainly thought BIG! 🌟

We heard creative, thoughtful, innovative and sometimes very ambitious ideas about how we can make Prairievale an even better place to learn, play and belong.

Here’s what our classes came up with:

* 🀝 5/6N – A buddy program with younger students
* πŸ₯€ 5/6R – A slushy machine and cooking club
* 🎨 5/6C – Chalkboards for lunchtime drawing
* πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ 5/6B – Cooking lessons
* πŸƒ 4/5G – A running track and playground
* πŸ› 3/4J – A playground with monkey bars, a m***i day every two weeks and changing the school bell to a song
* πŸ’» 3/4N – A cooking club and computer lab club
* πŸ’› 1/2S – An obstacle course called The Kindness Course, complete with a β€œMeet a Mate” bench to encourage friendship, inclusion and kindness
* 🀸 3/4B – Let’s Bounce! An in-ground trampoline
* 🌟 3/4M – Canteen vouchers to recognise our overall learners
* πŸ› K6S – A fixed playground at Prairievale
* 🌳 K6W – A playground and softfall area for Years 3–6
* 🌿 K6Z, K6G & K6P – Transforming the Aboriginal Garden into a quiet-play space
* 🍎 K6B – Updating the canteen menu
* 🎨 K6K – An alphabet wall, running track, more craft opportunities, a garden, playground and slide
* πŸ’ͺ 1/2R – A gym club in the hall
* ✨ KA – Making Prairievale more magical with chalk drawing boards
* πŸ’™ KS – A buddy bench
* πŸ› K/1P – A playground with equipment
* 🚲 1/2H – A Prairievale Bike Club
* 😊 1/2Y – A Squishy Club

πŸ’‘ OUR COMMUNITY HAD SOME BIG IDEAS TOO!

During our Festival of Excellence, Nadia from our Community Hub connected with parents, carers and community members and invited them to have their say about how we could make Prairievale even better.

Our community suggestions included a playground with more equipment, a Kiss and Drop zone, cooking lessons, and many more.

It was fantastic to see how many of our student and community ideas connected. Our students and families are clearly thinking about many of the same things when they imagine the future of Prairievale. πŸ’™πŸ’›

🌟 AND NOW… LET’S TURN SOME BIG IDEAS INTO REALITY!

We don’t want our Principal’s Big Idea to simply be about collecting ideas, we want our students to see that their voice can lead to real change!

We will be doing our very best to make lots of these ideas a reality, and today we were excited to make our first commitments! πŸŽ‰

We have committed to introducing:

🀝 A buddy program
πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ A cooking club
🎨 Chalkboards in the playground
πŸ’» A computer club
πŸƒ An obstacle course
πŸ’› A β€œMake a Mate” bench
πŸ“šπŸŒΏ A quiet space with a book-sharing hub
😊 The Squishy Club
🎟️ canteen voucher to recognise great learning

And this is only the beginning! πŸ’‘

Some of our other Big Ideas will require more planning, funding and investigation, but we will continue to explore what is possible. We want our students to know that when they think big, explain their ideas and use their voice, they really can make a difference.

A huge congratulations to every student who contributed, our class representatives who confidently presented today, Nadia for capturing our community voice, and all of our families who shared their thoughts.

We can’t wait to watch some of these Big Ideas come to life at Prairievale! πŸ’™πŸ’›

Our School. Our Voice. Our Future.
⭐ Great leaders listen and great ideas can create change!
