What an amazing Book Week! It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm, creativity and excitement our students have shown for books and reading.

Books play such an important role in developing comprehension, fluency, imagination and a lifelong love of learning.

Seeing our students celebrate their favourite stories and characters is a great reminder of just how powerful books can be!

What an incredible night at the Apex Echuca Moama Debating Competition!

Our Junior Team performed brilliantly, finishing as runners-up by a margin of just two points—an outstanding achievement.

Our Senior Team capped off the night with an incredible win against worthy opponents from Moama Anglican Grammar, taking home the Senior Debating title!

Our students also achieved exceptional individual results, with the top three Best Speaker awards all going to Australian Christian College students:

1. Edna Dany (Best Overall & Senior Speaker)
2. ⁠Amelia Dole
3. ⁠Lachlan Davey (Best Junior Speaker)

Congratulations to all of our students on their outstanding results. We are incredibly proud of the confidence, preparation and skill with which they represented our school. What a night for ACC!

We’re thrilled to announce that Angela has continued her success in the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition, competing in another round on Monday night.

Angela’s prepared speech explored the thought-provoking topic: “If you could have dinner with anyone from the past, who would it be, why would you choose them, and what would you serve them for dinner?” She also took on the challenge of an impromptu speech, sharing her thoughts on which subject she believes should be taught more in schools and explaining why she feels it is important.

We are incredibly pleased to announce that Angela won her competition! Her confidence, preparation and ability to think on her feet have once again paid off, and she is now through to the next round.

Angela’s next competition will be held on Sunday, 16 August, at Rochester Racecourse Recreation Reserve.

We wish Angela all the very best for the next round and are so proud of her achievement. We can’t wait to see her continue to grow in confidence and take on this exciting opportunity!

A sincere thank you to the Hon. Peter Walsh for Murray Plains MP and Brett Hosking for taking the time to sit down with our high school debating teams today.

Peter and Brett helped our students explore the intricacies of their topics, offering valuable insights and thoughtful perspectives as the teams prepare for the debate finals next week.

We are especially grateful to Peter and his office for generously investing their time in our local students. It was a valuable opportunity that will undoubtedly strengthen our teams’ preparation and confidence.

This week, our Year 7 Food Technology students explored the traditional diet of Indigenous Australians before preparing and presenting their own damper.

It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about Australia's rich food heritage while developing practical cooking skills.

Our Prep students celebrated 100 days of school in the most hilarious way possible! 👵👴

They dressed up as 100-year-olds and even took "selfies"... except they held the phones like grandparents trying to work out which side the camera is on! 📱😂

It's amazing to see how much they've grown, learned, and laughed over their first 100 days. We're so proud of each and every one of them!

Here's to the next 100 days of learning, friendship, and fun!

In 5/6 Art we have looked at how colour in artworks can affect mood and emotion, and reflect the seasons. We have looked at various artists and created our own artworks inspired by these artworks.

These include:
a ‘Winter Night Sky’ artwork with limited colours
a ‘Winter Snowflake Shivers’ artwork with a cool colours palette
a ‘Patterns and Textures Autumn Leaves’ artwork inspired by Yorta Yorta artist Ben Wilson
a ‘Paper Sculpture’ artwork inspired by Dale Chinhuly’s glass sculptures
a ‘Still Life’ artwork inspired by Giorgio Morandi
a caricatures artwork inspired by Claude Monet
cartooning with a springtime palette inspired by Alexander Calder
a Summertime Scene inspired by Tarsila Do Amaral

We also learnt different ways to display artworks and we created our own artworks display.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our Crazy Hair and Casual Clothes Day to encourage and support Tilly as she bravely cut her hair as part of The World's Greatest Shave, raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Tilly's donated hair will now be sent away to be made into a wig, helping someone experiencing hair loss.

Thank you to the generosity of our school community.
