This week the children have loved playing in the home corner and pretending to make lots of different things such as cakes, biscuits and coffees, so today we made some weet-bix slice.
They all were very excited and took it in turns to measure, pour and mix all the ingredients together, there was lots of discussion about what we needed to add, after it was finished cooking they all enjoyed eating it for afternoon tea.

Sensory trays aren’t just fun, they’re an important part of any early childhood learning experience. Young children learn best when they can touch and feel something, sensory play provides opportunities for children to learn in meaningful ways, strengthen their fine motor skills while also using their imagination and creativity skills.

Sensory play is open-ended, meaning there is no clearly defined outcome of playing with or exploring the materials inside the trays. Children use their senses and creativity to explore the materials offered in a sensory tray on their own without the expectation of an end product.
