October: The World Around Us & Space! 🌙✨

Throughout October, we will be exploring the amazing world around us and the wonders of space! Children will have opportunities to investigate our Earth, nature, weather and the environment before looking beyond our planet to discover the moon, stars, planets and solar system.

Take an insight on what the children have been exploring this week! 🪐

This Friday, 2nd October, we’re getting behind the Newcastle Knights as they head into the NRL Grand Final!

We’re inviting all of our Foundations Learning Academy children and educators to wear RED, BLUE and/or WHITE and help us fill the service with Knights spirit!

We can’t wait to see everyone dressed up and cheering them on!

🦷✨ A Visit from Kristy the Dentist! ✨🪥

Today we were lucky enough to have a special visit from Kristy the Dentist! Kristy read us a story all about keeping our teeth safe and healthy by remembering to brush our teeth twice a day.

Afterwards, our friends enjoyed their very own dentist check-up, where they had a turn sitting in the dentist’s chair and having their teeth checked to make sure they were nice and clean!

A big thank you to Kristy for helping us learn all about healthy teeth and happy smiles!

🌟 Visitor Sign-In Badges Made by Our Preschoolers!

Our wattle room has been busy getting creative and making some very special visitor sign-in badges for our centre!

Over the past week, the children have enjoyed designing and decorating the badges, adding their own creative touches and making something that will be used by our visitors each day.

We love seeing their ideas come to life while contributing to our centre community! 🖍️✨

Our little environmentalists took part in an Ocean Clean-Up Tweezer Activity today! 🐠🌏 Using tweezers, the children carefully removed small pieces of “rubbish” from our ocean sensory tray, helping to rescue the sea creatures and keep their ocean home clean. 🐢🐙

Rain Cloud in a Jar Experiment! ☁️🌧️

Today the children in Grevillea explored the wonder of rain through their Rain Cloud in a Jar experiment! Using water, shaving foam and blue food colouring, the children made predictions, watched closely and observed as the coloured “rain” slowly travelled through the fluffy cloud and into the jar.

Our little explorers had a splash of fun as they experimented with pouring, filling and transferring water. A simple water-play experience became an opportunity to develop fine motor skills, coordination, concentration and early problem-solving skills — all while enjoying some hands-on outdoor learning! 🌱💚

Did you know that a child’s brain develops rapidly during the first five years of life? 🌱💭

Every conversation, cuddle, play experience, story and new discovery helps build connections in their growing brains.

That’s why play is so much more than just fun — it’s how children learn, explore and make sense of the world around them! 🌈🧩
