Today our children had an amazing time welcoming the NSW SES Maitland Unit to our centre! A big thank you to our local SES volunteers for taking the time to visit and share their important work with us.

The children loved exploring the SES truck, learning about the different equipment, hearing how the SES helps keep our community safe and asking thoughtful questions. It was a hands-on, engaging experience that helped build their understanding of community helpers and emergency services.

We had a wonderful time full of excitement, learning and smiles!

Sometimes it's important to simply stop and say thank you.

To each and every one of the members of the Foundations Learning Academy Team- thank you.

The care, dedication, passion and commitment you show every single day does not go unnoticed. The relationships you build with the children and families, the extra effort you put in behind the scenes, and the genuine love you have for what you do are what make Foundations Learning Academy such a special place.

Early childhood education is so much more than a job. It takes patience, kindness, resilience and heart, and we are incredibly grateful to have a team who continually goes above and beyond for the children in our care.

On behalf of myself as Operations Manager, and the Approved Providers, thank you for everything you do. We appreciate each and every one of you more than words can say, and we are incredibly proud of the team we have built together.

🌿 Planting for the Future! 🌿

Today, the children at Foundations Learning Academy proudly planted a native seedlings in our Natures Playground, kindly donated by Maitland City Council as part of the National Tree Day initiative.

National Tree Day is Australia's largest community tree-planting and nature care event, encouraging communities to work together to improve our environment, support local wildlife and create a greener future for generations to come.

This hands-on experience provided our children with the opportunity to learn about caring for the environment, the importance of native plants and how even small actions can make a big difference to our planet.

This experience strongly supports the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF),particularly Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world, as children develop an appreciation for the natural environment, build respect for living things and begin to understand their role in caring for the world around them.

A big thank you to Maitland City Council for their generous donation and for supporting our children to become future environmental stewards. We can't wait to watch our tree grow alongside the children who planted it!

Grevillea Room – NAIDOC Week

We have been celebrating NAIDOC Week through a range of meaningful, hands-on experiences that encouraged children to learn about and appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Our learning spaces included sensory exploration with natural materials, storytelling about the land we live on and creative collage using the colours of the Aboriginal Flag. Through these experiences, children explored connection to country, engaged in conversations about the importance of Elders and developed an appreciation for the rich histories, cultures and traditions of Australia’s First Nations peoples.

We value creating opportunities for children to build respect, curiosity and understanding while learning through play. We are proud to celebrate the oldest continuing culture in the world and acknowledge the wisdom and knowledge shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 🌿✨

We started our playdough exploration with classic rollers and tools, but when one friend asked for leaves, our play quickly transformed! Soon we were collecting leaves, rocks, sticks and yarn to create, thread, wrap and investigate. 🍂🪵🧶
