We’re absolutely thrilled and honoured to be named a finalist in the Environment and Sustainability category at the Geelong Business Excellence Awards! 🌿✨

To have Harvest Experience recognised alongside such an impressive group of local businesses is a real privilege. Sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do, from our garden-to-plate philosophy and zero-waste approach to finding creative ways to use every bit of what we grow.

We’re incredibly excited and look forward to celebrating with some very esteemed company at the awards night in the new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention Centre.

Bring on the celebrations! 🥂 Geelong Business Excellence Awards

🌱 The harvest starts long before the harvest.

Garden prep isn’t glamorous but it’s where the magic begins. Every vegetable that goes from our garden to your plate is part of a plan that’s around 6 months in the making.

The last few days we’ve been turning over our veggie beds, adding loads of compost, worm castings, and sheep manure. Sheep manure is a cold manure, meaning it’s a gentle, slow-release fertiliser that’s perfect for growing healthy vegetables. We’ll now let it all break down over the next couple of months before planting begins.

Our resident doggies have certainly been loving the new “country perfume” around the garden… us humans, maybe not so much! 😂🐶🐑

Great produce doesn’t just happen it starts with great soil.

A few days in the beautiful winter sunshine have been well spent giving the strawberry towers a huge tidy-up. 🍓☀️

After an incredible season, it was time to remove all the old fruit, flowers, dead leaves and excess foliage, leaving just enough healthy leaves for the plants to keep growing. Now it’s all about letting them rest and put their energy back into building strong crowns for next season.

I’ll keep removing any flowers that appear until around November. There’s little point letting the plants put energy into producing fruit over winter when the weaker sun doesn’t produce those beautifully sweet, flavour-packed strawberries we all love.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your plants is… nothing exciting! A bit of patience now means healthier plants and an even better harvest when the warmer weather returns.

🫒 Olive Season 2026 🫒

The romantic Mediterranean olive harvest of my imagination involved leisurely picking fruit under blue skies ☀️🌿

The actual Olive Season ’26 involved asking, repeatedly, “Why is every decent olive 3 metres in the air?” 🤔🪜

Outcome:
🫒 85kg harvested
👀 1 scratched cornea courtesy of a branch
🪜 0 ladder injuries

And enough olives to make it all worthwhile. 😊

What an awesome weekend in the Harvest Experience Kitchen 🍝🍷

A double-header of pasta and vino fun — kicking things off with a private Saturday booking (a group of friends somehow getting even tighter over dough and wine ❤️), followed by a public Sunday class.

We kneaded, rolled, filled and cooked our way through two seriously fun days of pasta-making, laughs and vino.

Today’s class was so chatty and lively that I completely forgot to get a group shot 🤦‍♀️ But I did manage to capture this gorgeous father-daughter duo sharing the experience together, which feels pretty special ❤️

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us and brought the good vibes. You make these weekends so much fun. Until next time…

Another fabulous garden-to-plate!
So much enthusiasm, joy, and plenty of laughs in the kitchen. Everyone absolutely nailed the dishes 👏

With this warm weather sticking around, the garden just keeps on giving… although the summer crops are definitely starting to get a little confused and tired 😂

Shiraz grapes still aren’t quite at the sugar levels for picking—but that’s okay, we can afford to wait and make sure we get them just right. We’re fortunate to have that flexibility, and especially grateful for the warm weather this week—it’s giving the vines exactly what they need.
