What a wonderful excursion our Ladybugs class got to experience today! Today we took the children to the local Coles that is attached to our centre complex. The children safely walked over with their educators to begin their adventure! 🍎🍊🍌🏬🛒 This excursion supporting the children with their Group Project — learning about the importance of the team members roles at Cole and Woolworths, the importance of nutritious food, food waste and our community. We had so much fun seeing the world of our local Coles workers and it was wonderful to see the children developing their confidence, communication skills, independence and understanding of the community through this real-life learning experience.

nature collaging 🪴🌻🍃Learning through natural materials and using contact paper for baby collages builds sensory awareness, fine motor skills, and an early connection to the environment. Tactile exploration: Babies feel rough bark, soft petals, cool leaves, and bumpy seed pods, which spark new brain connections. Open-ended discovery: No fixed “right way” to arrange items encourages independent choices and natural curiosity. Natural textures and outdoor elements have a soothing, grounding effect on a baby’s emotional state.Using backyard items shows infants that the earth provides creative, beautiful materials.

Our little chefs 👩🏻‍🍳👨🏼‍🍳⏲️ here at Little Kindy we love providing opportunities for children to learn self help skills, independence, mathematics and science through cooking/baking. Learning about cooking and baking in childcare supports holistic development. It turns the kitchen into a practical classroom where children build fine motor skills, practice early math and science concepts, and gain independence. It also encourages healthy eating habits by making children more eager to try new foods they helped create.

Learning Through Beauty ✨💇‍♀️💅

This week our babies explored the world of beauty—an occupation that is familiar and meaningful to many of our families. Through a fun Crazy Hair Day with child-friendly nail polish, face paint, and a variety of hands-on resources, the children were encouraged to freely express themselves, explore their creativity, and engage in imaginative play.

By connecting learning experiences to children’s family occupations and interests, we create meaningful opportunities for exploration, self-expression, and a sense of belonging. It was wonderful to see each child’s unique personality shine through as they experimented, created, and celebrated their own ideas.
