🎨 Year 3/4 Visual Arts – Patterning & Dragon Creations 🐉

During Visual Arts this term, our Year 3/4 students have been exploring the art of patterning. They investigated the properties of 2D shapes and used techniques inspired by Bronwyn Bancroft to design their own vibrant and detailed patterns.

Building on these skills, students then shifted their focus to Dragons — creating patterned dragon artworks and designing their very own Dragon Eye Diaries. This project encouraged imagination, storytelling and careful attention to artistic detail.

It has been a wonderfully creative unit, and the students should be proud of their expressive and thoughtful work.

🎨 Year 1/2 Arts – Patterning and 3D Creations 🌿

This term in Arts, our Year 1/2 students have been exploring the wonderful world of patterning. They investigated different 2D shapes and used techniques inspired by Bronwyn Bancroft to create their own vibrant repeating patterns.

Building on this learning, students then designed and constructed their own 3D cottages, before creating imaginative surroundings such as forests, gardens and other landscapes to bring their mini‑worlds to life.

It has been a joyful, hands‑on unit full of creativity, colour and storytelling.

🎨 Creations of the Creek – Gallery Exhibition 🌿

You are warmly invited to see our Woodroffe Primary Year 3–4 artwork featured in a special gallery exhibition!

📅 Opening Celebration:
Friday 12 June at 5.30pm

This event marks the opening of ‘Creations of the Creek’, a three‑week exhibition running from 12–27 June.

Earlier this year, our Year 3–4 students explored local creeks as part of their visual arts learning. They created their own collaged creek artworks, then collaborated on five whole‑class creek collages. Students painted and patterned their own papers, inspired by the techniques of Eric Carle — the beloved creator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

📍 Untitled Gallery + Studio
3/1 Caryota Court, Coconut Grove, Darwin

It’s a wonderful opportunity for children and families to see student artwork displayed in a real gallery setting. If you can’t make the opening, the exhibition is open:
🕙 10am–4pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
🕛 Saturday 10am–12pm

A big thank you to Nicole Kaye for making this experience possible for our students and community.

🐐 Special Visitors at Woodroffe Primary School! 🐐
This week, our students enjoyed some very special guests – Mrs West’s adorable baby goats, Willow and Pebbles, who are just 4 weeks old!
Students were incredibly excited to spend time with them, enjoying cuddles, learning more about goats, and even helping with their bottle feeds.
It was a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity, giving students a chance to learn about farm animals and the importance of caring for them.
