The feedback from our families and children has been incredible. The stories we hear every day, and the imaginations running wild, are just beautiful. The chicken hatching life cycle has been such a huge hit that we’ll bring it back again next year. It’s wonderful to see the questions and curiosity it sparks in the children, and how it extends their learning.

At Birches Croydon, the children have been learning about the life cycle of chickens. 🐣🐓

Over the past few days, the children and their families have watched the chicks hatch from their eggs and take their very first steps once they had dried off. It has been a wonderful hands on learning experience and a special opportunity to see new life up close.

The children at Birches Croydon acknowledged First Nations cultures and histories by celebrating NAIDOC Week. They were offered a variety of resources to express their own interpretations of this year’s stunning poster artwork, Paralpi, by artist Zaachariaha Fielding.

This week our Kinders took their curiosity outdoors for Bush Kinder. 🌿🌿

The children had a big day exploring, painting and drawing the wattle in bloom, hunting for bugs in the dirt, and getting up close to bark and flowers through their magnifying glasses. 🔍🐜✏️

Fresh parsley from our little gardeners🌿

Our children have been busy in the veggie garden and we have beautiful homegrown parsley available for any families who’d like some. Come grab a bunch next time you’re in! 💚

We were very lucky to have some special visitors at the centre this week. Thank you to Reptile Encounters for bringing these beautiful animals to our service and for all the incredible facts.

🌻🍂Today, our toddlers turned into little explorers! We went on a nature walk around our environment, enthusiastically collecting various natural resources like leaves, petals, and twigs.

Back in the room, we invited the children to create their own nature collages. Using sheets of sticky contact paper, the children loved exploring the different textures before carefully pressing their treasures down. This hands-on experience was a wonderful way for our toddlers to connect with the natural world while practicing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination!

The children have been learning about the process of a caterpillar 🐛 to chrysalis to a Monarch butterfly 🦋

Lest we forget.

Our children helped decorate the wreath with flowers which was placed at the Dawn Service.

They chose the flowers and placed each one with care.
