𝗔𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲 – 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗠𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲!

A group of our amazing Student Leaders are proud to once again bring the Alkira Big Freeze to our school community. Planned for Friday 19th June, the day will include a casual dress day (gold coin donation), lunchtime activities and the return of the much-loved Staff Big Freeze (with a new twist). Further details about the day's program will be shared in the coming weeks with students.

In the meantime, official FightMND Big Freeze merchandise is available for purchase from now until the 19th of June 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲:

• Adult beanie — $25
• Child beanie — $20
• Socks (small and large sizes) — $15

This year's event carries extra meaning as we reflect on the recent passing of Neale Daniher, whose extraordinary courage and commitment to FightMND touched so many lives. Every purchase and every donation goes towards the vital research and support he championed — and supports all those in our community living with MND.

Thank you for getting behind this great cause.

⚖️ 𝗔𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶

We were recently delighted to welcome back Alkira alumna Georgia Di**le (Class of 2017), who completed a Bachelor of Law and Criminology with Distinction at Deakin University.

Throughout her university journey, Georgia balanced her studies while working as a Manager at McDonald’s and as a Paralegal at Maurice Blackburn. She is now practising as a lawyer at leading Australian law firm Hall & Wilcox in their Private Clients team.

Georgia delivered an engaging and insightful session on careers in law and criminology. Students greatly appreciated learning about different pathways into the legal profession, gaining experience within a legal firm, and the realities of working in the legal industry.

Her insights into the paralegal side of law, along with the Q&A session, inspired many aspiring legal students as they consider their future pathways.

We thank Georgia for generously sharing her journey, experiences and advice with our students.

🎓 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀

Earlier this month, our Year 12 students attended the VCE and Careers Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Students had a highly engaging and informative experience as they explored a wide range of future pathway opportunities beyond school.

With around 120 exhibitors in attendance, students were able to gather valuable information, ask questions and speak directly with representatives from universities, TAFEs, training organisations and industry groups to help them make informed decisions about their next steps.

🌏 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸

What a fantastic week of celebration across our school community! Students enjoyed a range of cuisines from our lunchtime food trucks, took part in immersive cultural activities, and embraced the opportunity to learn more about the many cultures that make Alkira such a vibrant place.

The week finished with an incredible whole-school assembly featuring singing, dancing and drumming performances from our talented students and staff.
