Hi, I’m Jono Hawes! I’m really excited to be joining the Kala Primary School community this year and to be part of such an exciting time as the school continues to grow.
I’ve been teaching for over 10 years, beginning my career as a Physical Education teacher before transitioning into classroom teaching over the past few years. I’ve really enjoyed the change and the opportunity to build strong relationships with my students, while creating a classroom where they feel supported, engaged and excited to learn.
Outside of school, I love playing golf and have been involved in basketball for many years as both a player and coach. I also enjoy painting, being creative and cooking for friends and family.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know the students, families and staff at Kala and becoming part of this wonderful new school community!

**What a very special Principal’s Day!**

We are feeling incredibly grateful and very spoilt after such a wonderful Principal’s Day at Kala Primary!

From the beautiful gifts and well wishes from our students and families before and after school, to the thoughtful surprises throughout the day, we were reminded just how lucky we are to be part of such an amazing school community.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff for the beautiful morning tea and for making the day so special. We were also completely blown away by our special assembly, which included a video created especially for us, a wonderful song performed by our Year 3–6 students and a beautiful speech that truly touched our hearts.

And then came the very special gifts! At the assembly we were presented with:
* A beautiful photo album filled with memories from special events throughout our school year
* A gorgeous artwork featuring the thumbprints of all our students, carefully labelled with their names
* A folder filled with thoughtful acrostic poems created by our students
* A delicious box of chocolates and a beautiful photo frame filled with photos of the students who attend before and after school care from the staff at OSHClub
* Everything beautifully wrapped in special wrapping paper designed by our students
* And a stunning bunch of flowers!

We were also so surprised by the incredible Superhero display in the corridor outside our offices. Created with special artwork made by students from across the school - it certainly makes us smile every time we walk past!

Thank you to every student, family and staff member who took the time to make us feel so appreciated and celebrated. Your kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity mean more than you know.

We are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful school community and are so grateful to be part of it.

Thank you for making our first Principal’s Day at Kala Primary one we will never forget!
